A wolf was not a normal thing to see in a city, especially New York city. Thankfully, the wolf looked more like a dog than a wolf, so people didn't chase after him with pitchforks and knives. Padding on all fours, he could hear the animals talking with one another- relaying news and such. This was the idea of a perfect day for Remus, a nice day just to take a stroll and be himself. He kept his ears peeled, making sure that no one was trying to tail him. There were advantages and disadvantages to being in this form- an advantage was the ears.
He briskly padded over to a bench near a park and curled up on the bench, his chest rising up and lowering rhythmically. Remus wasn't asleep, he knew better than to fall asleep in a place like this. He didn't want to repeat the incident that had happened a few days before his new school- the day where he got caught and sent to a pound. It had been a frightening experience, and he hoped it never happened again. Remus got patted on the head a few times by some children, and enjoyed it. He was still a bit bored though and wanted someone to talk to.

Helena walked down the busy street. She was a teacher and unfortunately this time it had meant she had to travel to a conference in New York. Bunch of teachers had gathered to discuss some changes in the text books. She was staying at the empty apartment of a colleague from back home. She was grateful for that. Right now she, however, was more focused on balancing with two grocery bags. She had the habit of cooking too much. After all, she was Italian by heritage. Mob or no mob, she liked to have some quality food every now and then.
The bags were heavy and slipping constantly. She muttered to herself annoyed. That was when she spotted a bench. But when she arrived to it, it had been taken over by a big black dog. She saw kids pat him as they passed by so she dared to go closer. "Taking up some space huh?" She muttered to the animal and laid down her groceries, taking a seat next to it. Helena hunched over, re-arranging the groceries, figuring this would make it easier for her to carry them.
After Helena was satisfied with the bags, she leaned back on the bench breathing in the smell of New York. "Not a bad day eh, pooch?" She said to the dog. Helena blinked. "Oh god, I'm talking to a dog..." she shook her head feeling ridiculous. Helena threw a glance at the direction of the apartment she was staying at. It wasn't far, she could see it a block away from where she was sitting. Yet, she wanted to sit down for a while and maybe look at the passing people for a while.

Remus looked at the woman who sat down next to him, moving a bit so that he didn't take up so much room on the bench. He nodded at her suggestion that it wasn't a bad day, he was having a good day himself for the most part. She looked a bit overburdened by what she was carrying.
Remus looked down at the bags then back at her, giving a sort of worried bark. It looked like she was overburdened with stuff. Remus wanted to help, he probably could carry one to two bags at least with his mouth. "Thank god I have a super-jaw," he thought to himself, laughing internally.

Helena's brows shot up when the dog actually seemed somehow concerned about her bags. She tilted her head as he let out a whiny bark. Wait...did it nod when I said it was a nice day??? "Well, I'll be damned...Mr Batman was right...I am crazy." She muttered silently and got up. It was unnerving to find you were seriously considering the animal had nodded on a comment.
The dog was still staring at her bags though. "What's wrong pooch? You see something there that worries you? I did buy low fat milk so that can't be the problem." She grinned and grabbed the other bag. "It's a shame you can't help me carrying these things." She patted the dog's head and then tried to balance the other bag so she could grab the other.

Remus recognized the look on her face, and heard her words twice as strongly. The one bad thing about his wolf form was that when he responded to people no one wanted to believe that he could have an intelligence greater than most. Remus didn't know the person who she talked about and immediatly thought, "Batman? A man that can turn into a bat?"
Remus smiled internally when she petted him on the head. His fur had a strange texture, like someone had put hair products in it. His smile turned to worry though when she saw her attempting to gather all those bags. Without a thought of the consequences, he hopped off the bench and grabbed the other bag with his mouth.

Before Helena could grab her second bag the dog suddenly snatched it. Okay this is just...weird. She looked down at the creature, not knowing what to do. Sure she fights gunmen almost daily but now when a dog grabs her groceries she's suddenly frozen to her feet. Thank god I have the bag with the fresh vegetables...wouldn't want drool all over--. Great sure, that was the part to focus on.
"Well, okay...you seem to like my groceries." Helena tilted her head. A few people passing glanced at her and the dog, giving strange looks. What? They never seen a dog carry a bag before? Fine...maybe not one full of groceries. "Uh...let's try this then." Yes, me and my big mouth. Of course I happened to face a mutt taking thinks very literally. Helena backed up a few steps to the direction of her temporary apartment. "Let's go pooch." She felt slightly ridiculous even trying this. The dog even looked strange. Its hair was all...kind of reminded her of her colleague's hair. Way too much hair products. And the animal was pretty big. Made her think of a wolf, but what would such a wild animal do in the middle of the city? And why would this strange thing bother to actually carry her bag? Rather lone follow her.

Remus kind of enjoyed the confusion that the woman was going through when he picked up the bag with his mouth. He snickered in his head, wishing that his friends could see the reaction to his helping nature. Remus adjusted the bag in his mouth to prevent any drool from dripping onto the actual groceries before following the woman. He HATED being called a pooch, or a dog, he was a wolf and those names kind of hurt his wolfish pride. Still, he kept his good cheer somehow.
He was thinking about whether or not he should reveal his human side, actually leaning it to once because of the talk about Bat-man. He shoved it out of his mind and at a thought of what was covering his wolf skin at the moment. Remus could feel hairspray sticking to his wolf skin because of the hairspray aerosol can that had some how poured it's contents into his hair earlier that morning. It was very disgusting, especially in this form, but this form was a lot more accepted than his human form because it wasn't dressed up as a punk rocker. Remus had a brisk pace, managing to keep up with the woman easily.

This had to be one of the weirdest things she had experienced in a while. The dog jogged next to her keeping in her pace as she made her way through the busy street. Helena wasn't much of a dog person so she wasn't an expert on these things but she guessed this wasn't the usual behavior expected from a random canine. She turned on the small alley where the entrance to the apartment was.
Helena stopped in front of the door and turned to look at the black dog. She hunched down and looked closer at the canine. "You do look like a wolf." She muttered and carefully scratched its head, gently taking the bag. Then she wiped her hand to her jeans. There was some sticky goo on the animal. "Thank you." She tilted her head and sighed. "Too bad you don't drink coffee. I don't think I have anything else to offer you right now. I kind of need the meat in here for cooking. And this place doesn't look kindly at stray dogs in the building." Helena smiled slightly and straightened her back. "Oh don't look at me like that. You know I'd invite you in if you weren't a pooch." She grinned and started digging for her keys.

Remus knew he was acting strangely for a canine, and kind of sighed internally when he saw the "no stray dogs" sign. What was everyone's deal with no stray dogs, as long as they weren't harmful, what was the point? Turning his ideas to happier ones he liked being patted on the head, even in his human form. Something had probably gotten mixed up whenever he had gotten his powers and so some canine influences had gone to both forms. Remus listened to what she said, noting how he liked coffee and purposefully tried to look cute.
Giving an internal sigh, he'd knew he have to change in order to go inside with the woman. When she turned away to get her keys, Remus finally made the decision on whether or not to change. In five seconds at most, the wolf transformed into a human with canine influences. Remus was wearing a pair of skinny jeans, high-top converse, a white Sex Pistols shirt, and his signature fake leather jacket. His hair was jet-black, like his wolf's fur, and was even kind of parted where the woman had petted him in his wolf form. "1. Please don't scream, 2. I am a wolf, partially, 3. I am actually a fan of coffee, may I have some please?" Remus said to the woman, actually making the hand gestures that meant 1, 2, and 3.

Helena's eyes widened when she suddenly heard a man's voice. Adrenaline took over her body like an electric shock. She stared at the man, frozen to her feet. She was so tensed that she could barely breathe. Attack? Should I attack? Wait, he asked for coffee. Would someone wanting to attack her? For a moment she hesitated but slowly she allowed her muscles to relax.
Well, it's not like I haven't seen weird things in my life. Helena dug up her keys. "Not my habit to scream." She pushed the door open with her shoulder as her hands were occupied with the groceries. "And...well...I sort of already promised you coffee. And you carried my bag all the way here so, sure." She figured she could take him on if he wanted a fight later. "Oh mother of god, a wolf man was the last thing I had guessed to run into when I came here." Helena sighed and shook her head as she headed up the stairs. I really hope I'm not seriously going crazy. Arkham would not treat me well...

Remus seriously thought that she was going to attack him, and was ready for a fight in a seconds notice. However, when her muscles relaxed so did his. Remus had a wild look about him, not in his eyes or general personality, but something about his appearance screamed that of a wild beast. "Ah good, normally people do- painful for the ears really," he said, leaning against a nearby wall. Remus had a big grin on his face, "Also, please don't think you're crazy, I'm real, though kinda hard to believe." His canine teeth glinted slightly in the light that was available
Remus looked as she considered whether to treat him to a cup of coffee and gave a relieved sigh. He hadn't had anything today in the ways of food or drink, being too busy with his vigilante buisness. "Thanks, I've been too busy to consider food today," Remus said with a laugh, following her to her apartment.

Helena smiled as they arrived at the apartment door and she laid down the bags. "Yeah same here. Lived through the day with the power of my morning coffee." She unlocked the door, pushing it open, picking up the bags again. "C'mon in." She entered the apartment. It was rather cold looking. Like no one would actually live there. It was too tidy. Everything was design stuff. Shining shelves, delicate lamps. One comfy sofa. It was the only thing that actually looked comfy in the apartment. Only one good thing came out of the coldness of the colors; the place looked spacious. The beige sofa fit in well with the shades of gray.
There was one thing breaking the harmony. Helena's papers and files, and her laptop. Most of the files were labeled to be from Gotham City. From the large living room opened a view to the kitchen. She had carelessly scattered them on the coffee table. She walked over to the kitchen bar and laid the grocery bags on the counter. "Sorry 'bout the papers. Take a seat where ever you like." She motioned at the bar stools and then the whole living room with her hand. At the same time she started making coffee. "So, wolf boy...there many of your kind in NY? Should I avoid talking to dogs in the future?" Helena grinned after she switched on the coffee maker and turned to face the strange man.

Remus immediately noticed how impersonal it was in the apartment, how cold it was and it made him shiver inside. His apartment screamed him pratically, and without that noise of another person's personality it was creepily silent, and scary. Remus brought himself out of his thoughts with a smile at the woman inviting him inside, asking "Thanks- What is your name? My name's Sid, but everyone calls me Remus."
Remus noticed all of the papers and the laptop, and wondered what a "Gotham" was, he'd never seen or been to it. He forced himself to come back to the real world again when she offered the entire place to sit. Remus's first instinct was to curl up on the floor like a normal dog would, but he opted for a bar stool instead. "It's no problem, your apartment is super tidy and nice compared to mine," he said, sitting down on the bar stool and watching her make coffee. Remus listened to her question about Wolf men and gave a small laugh, saying, "You'll see a lot of unique people here, but I think you are safe talking to dogs- I think I'm the only wolf man here."

"Helena" She replied softly with a smile as Remus asked her name. Helena then looked around the place too, assessing the style of the place like she had done so many times before. She still thought the sofa was the only good ting in it. Besides the huge bed and the plasma screen TV in the bedroom. "Oh this is not my place. I'm just borrowing it while I'm in the city." She explained. "I personally wouldn't be able to live in a cold and sterile looking place like this. I've already started to obsess with cleanliness because I feel like it should stay as cold as it was before I entered."
Helena turned and started unloading the groceries, placing them tidily in the fridge. "You think this place has unique people? You should see Gotham." She laughed, "but good to know I will not be running into more of dogs turning into people. I don't really like surprises like that. At least not constantly. Sometimes it might be refreshing though."

"Helena? Nice name," Remus complimented. This place had a nice general shape and structure, it was just the paint choices made it seem colder than a freezer to him. "That's good, I would have thought you a boring person if it was actually yours," Remus responded with a calm laugh. He nodded at her comment about how she wanted it to stay the way it was before. It was exactly like him with his apartment, it was messy before and was still messy...the same drive that drove her to keep it clean was driving him to keep his messy.
"Gotham? Sorry, never been myself, never even heard of it actually..." Remus said with a laugh, adding, " 'course then, I'm not good with knowing locations." He listened to her statement about not wanting to meet more dog people and added in with a knowing voice, "Well, I'm not a hundred and ten percent positive that I'm the ONLY one here, but I haven't seen any other dog men in this neck of the woods and I've been living here a while now." Remus sat back a little bit and said, "Sorry for scaring you earlier, by the way. I just thought I could help a bit so I tried too."
