Helena let out a chuckle at the comment on her being boring. "Oh you shouldn't always believe what's on the label." She stated with her metaphorical way, smiling as she moved from the kitchen to the coffee table. She started gathering up the paper work, clearing the table like a good cleanliness obsessive person would. "Oh Gotham is not too far from here. But I bet you'd rather stay here than get lost into the dark alleys of that place." Suddenly she came across files that were definitely not school related. It was on some mob related issues. The vigilante slash former 'mob princess' quickly hid the file between the more discreet ones, looking like nothing had happened.
"Well sounds like you know your way around the city so I trust your word. Hundred per cent or not." Helena smiled and placed the files on the corner of the table in a tidy stack. She then returned to the kitchen. "Oh I didn't really get scared...you just... triggered my self defense mechanism." And that guy is lucky I didn't get rough on him. "I'm not a timid person." She gave him a wink and turned to check the coffee maker. It was done. Had to love the new coffee makers. She mentally noted she should get one like this one too. Helena took two cups from the cabinet above the sink and grabbed the pot. "Sugar? Cream? Milk?" She asked, pouring the black liquid into the cups.

Remus chuckled a bit as well, his wolfish features coming out a bit more prominently as he responded, "Bad habits are hard to get rid of." He watched her gather her files off of the coffee table, not seeing their labels because he was too interested in their conversation. "Probably, light and cheerful me would probably get mugged within seconds no?" Remus laughed, "but I might be able to find my way back, that is if I knew what scent to follow." He was starting to get concerned about his sense of smell, it was starting to leak into his human form unexpectedly. In general he was worried about the separation of his human form and wolf form since things were starting to leak on both sides. Just a couple of days ago he had been forced to wear a hat because his normal human ears had been replaced with dog ears in his human form.
"Trust's good, very good, but still there may be one that hasn't shown him or herself yet...you never know really," Remus responded, the last part of the sentence being serious as his face was. He burst into a goofy smile again once she began telling him how she wasn't scared, "Sorry I triggered that then." Remus thought to himself for a second about what he had smelled when her defensive thing had activated. He smiled to himself when he remembered that he could not smell fear at all- she was telling the truth, at least if he wasn't kidding himself. What snapped him out of those thoughts was her asking about coffee, to which he responded "5 sugars plus milk and cream, if you don't mind of course." Remus knew he liked coffee, although with a weird amount of stuff in it. This never failed to slightly freak his friends out whenever they went out for coffee together. Remus just assumed his body needed a lot more sugar in stuff to keep up his energy after and before transformations. His friends just said that he liked candy more than anyone else.

Helena laughed. "Oh you'd be lucky if you got just robbed. Usually people end up dying." She dug the fridge for milk and cream. Then she started reaching for the top shelves of the cabinet, searching for the sugar. "Oh don't worry, lesser things are known to trigger that mode in me. Call it an over active sixth sense." She chuckled and finally found the box of sugar.
Helena grabbed it and opened it. "Wait...5 sugars? Really?" She paused, looking slightly baffled, pushing back a lock of her long black hair. She had never seen or heard of anyone using that much sugar in their coffee. Before dipping in the sugar she just poured in the less confusing things; milk and cream. "Don't you get diabetes having that much sugar in your coffee? Or are you wolf men resistant to that?" Her icy-blue eyes glanced at the man, hesitant yes her faint smile indicated amusement.

Remus winced comically, saying sarcastically, "Wow...nice neighborhood over there." He knew he'd not be visiting Gotham anytime soon, he wasn't in the mood to get pulverized by some wackjobs while roaming the streets. "You think you've got an overactive six sense? Try an overactive all five while in wolf form- it's not pretty," Remus responded with a laugh. His wolf form's senses were average for a wolf, but it still was annoying what he heard, smelled and saw.
Remus couldn't help a chuckle when she got confused over him asking for five sugars. "No diabetes for me, the sugar actually helps my transformations to go smoothly," he explained. Remus said with a smile, "From what I've read, people with animal transformations need some sort of chemical or substance to keep their transformations smooth- without pain, or without turning into something else..." he winced before continuing "for me it's sugar, but another person may have to get a lot of salt to get going."

"Oh yes, that's Gotham. But there is some good in that place too. Though I might be biased since it is my home city." Helena then smiled at Sid's comment on his senses. Probably would feel strange to have as heightened senses as a wolf has. She was a teacher and sure knew enough about wolves to know that. Sure the senses could be helpful. Especially in a fighting situation. She could hear better the sneaking steps of an enemy. But all and all she did pretty good job without such powers. Her being a wolf could be too much for Batman to handle. He liked to meddle into what she was doing. He had busy enough time for just handling her as the black horse of the vigilantes.
Helena dropped the five sugar cubes into the, now light brown, liquid. "Well that's interesting." She turned and handed him the cup. "I think eating that much sugar daily would drive me crazy. It's all about the balance of taste for me. Besides, I've never liked sugar that much." Helena grinned after swooping in her Italian cooking philosophy. She placed the cream and milk back into the fridge and hid the sugar in the back of the cabinet, where it had been. She herself drunk coffee black. She usually made very strong coffee but she knew people didn't really like it that way so she had made it slightly milder this time. "Do you guys get fleas?" She suddenly asked with a smile. At the same time she checked out his appearance a bit. Not bad at all...oh shush see now this is why Canary referred to you as a floozy person. Helena shifted her eyes to her coffee and took a sip from it but couldn't kill her crooked smile.

"Some people say New York is a bad place, but I think it's good so we're both biased," Remus laughed. He thought in the back of his head about what it felt like to be a wolf. It was cool and all, but could be overwhelming to keep on gaining and losing those senses all the time. "It would drive most people crazy, especially restaurant cooks apparently," Remus replied, giving a small chuckle at a memory that he remembered with amazing accuracy. He used to drink coffee very strong and black when he was in the gang, but stopped doing so after he left. Mostly it was because his wolfish features had begun leaking into his human form due to lack of sugar. Remus had corrected it only in the nick of time to keep himself from having a tail. Unfortunately, he had been too late to keep the canine teeth out.
Remus blinked when she asked if he got any fleas. Honestly, he hadn't thought about it because he had never felt fleas in his wolf form or human form before. "I guess not...it's probably the hairspray," Remus answered pointing to his spiky hairdo. "Of course, it's not normally like this. I spilled an entire can on my head accidentally," he quickly said, not wanting her to think that he was the sort to be clueless about how much hairspray to use in the morning. Remus actually was pretty good with hair, having tried out many hairstyles on himself before using this one because it was easiest and it wasn't too outgoing.

Helena looked up at his hair. "Yeah with that much hair spray you'd think your hair could just hop off your head and walk around." She felt slight pity for the hair spray catastrophe. She had never been through such issues. She rarely used hairspray. She rarely felt the need for such. Helena wasn't so fond of dressing up. She wanted to stay away from dresses, that's for sure. They just got in the way.
Helena threw a glance at her watch. "Merda" she cursed. "I better start cooking, if you don't mind." She laid down her coffee and turned to get supplies from the fridge. "Otherwise I'm never going to get this done and have to resolve to takeout." She threw a smile at the man. Vigilante or not, she liked to have a decent meal and take out was not an option unless she was just simply too tired to cook. Her Italian taste was picky in a way. Or maybe it was the pride of cooking that got to her. "Expecting some people to drop by." She explained her hurry to cook. It was actually just her cousin and his wife. They had insisted on seeing her when they had discovered she had come to the city. They lived in New York and hadn't seen Helena in years. Yes, they were a part of the mob most of her relatives belonged to but they had always behaved relatively nice to her. She was cautious around them often but never showed it. As long as it was their concern: she was family. She was a former capo or sorts. Not the Huntress after their sorry--. Helena noticed she had sunk in her thoughts. The fridge door was open and she was just staring at it. She cleared her throat and picked up the fresh stake, wrapped in paper. She felt bad just starting to cook without asking Remus to join the dinner but she doubt her cousin would appreciate that. And if he'd stay in wolf form, he wouldn't raise suspicion but then he could hear something only meant for the ears of the 'mafia princess'. Helena grabbed a pan and poured some oil on it. She threw a glance at the piece of meet on the counter. She remembered the time when she used to hunt her own meat for the table. It had been fresh and ready to be cooked. "While sniffing around the streets, have you noticed any place with extremely fresh meat? I couldn't find better than the shop nearby and I don't think this is the best New York can offer." She poked the steak with a knife she had grabbed.

"No problem, I probably need to be heading out soon because I have to grab a snack before I get to work," Remus said with a laugh looking at the clock. His midnight work was pretty severe this time of the year. It was so bad he sometimes didn't have time to think, much less eat. He blinked when he heard her say that she was going to have people over soon, "Family or Friends I'm assuming, or they could be buisness associates." He cursed in his head at his curiosity coming to the surface. Remus laughed, "Don't mind me, I like playing guessing games."
Remus thought about her question, trying to point out several steak stores. Some stores had offered him scraps while in his wolf form- some that he'd taken so he knew a few good places. Remus kept on thinking until he remembered one really, really good place. "There's one a few blocks from here, it's kind of hard to find but all of their meat is extremely fresh, and tasty," he said, nearly drooling after remembering the scraps he had gotten last time. With a laugh he joked, "Please don't ask me how I got a taste of that meat."

Helena's smile died slightly as Remus asked if the guests were family or friends or business associates. "Family...business....what's the difference." She let out her sarcastic comment before she could stop herself. Helena quickly noticed her mistake. "Eh, just a cousin and his wife. They insisted on seeing me. I have a large and....closely knit family." And I only wish I hadn't... She sliced the meat with the extremely sharp knife easily. "They want to keep tabs on me when they can." She slammed the meat to a bowl. Helena grabbed a bowl of salt and sprinkled it on the red flesh. Next was a special mix of pepper she had done earlier that day.
Helena laughed when Remus told about the good meat place. "I should check it out." Her smile was back. "And I will be sure not to even hint I know any black wolves...Somehow that makes me think I wouldn't get great service there." She winked at him and took another knife, starting to cut the celery. "I hope I didn't make too strong coffee. It's a habit of mine and people always complain their intestines are burning. I tried to tone it down a bit." she threw a glance at his coffee cup.

"Lucky you, although it does probably get a bit annoying sometimes have a close-knit family," Remus replied, watching her cook. He was fascinated by cooking, although he never had time to do it himself. The most time for cooking Remus had was 10 minutes to cook something in the microwave and eat it before he had to head out to work. He laughed when she said that she wouldn't get any good service there, saying back with a grin on his face, "Sure you would, the lady there happens to like me very much...of course she doesn't know that I'm technically a werewolf, but still..." Remus looked at the coffee once she had brought attention to it.
All during their conversation, he had drunk his coffee and now it was half empty. Remus didn't feel anything wrong with his stomach, but that was probably due to the food that he ate on a daily basis. Microwavable food was definitely not normal, well not normal in his viewpoint. "Compaired to the stuff I eat and drink, which is probably at least partially radioactive by this point, your coffee is perfectly mild. Your really good at making coffee in other words," Remus said, cracking a joke about his food.

"Oh you have no idea." Helena muttered pushing the chopped celery out of the way so she could get to the onions. "If I wasn't the person I am I would smash their heads through the window." Her slicing got slightly angry, like the onion had said something to piss her off. She realized this and laid down the knife. "But, well, they are family." She quickly moved on to pouring some water into a kettle and switched on the stove.
"Heh, everyone's favorite pooch eh? I bet you get plenty of freebies." Helena grinned opening a bag of rice. She started pouring the white bits to the water that was heating on the stove. She watched the rice bounce down and it made her think of snow for some odd reason. " You know I think you are the first one to say my coffee is good," she laughed "yet again you have plenty of milk, cream and sugar in there so that kind of makes it milder." Her smile remained like it had been painted on her face.

Remus looked down at her angrily chopping the onion, and then looked at her face, saying with a smile, "Well it's a good thing you don't, because cleaning up broken glass is not as easy as TV shows make it up to be." He knew a lot about cleaning up broken glass, mainly from his fights, but also because of his slight clumsiness when it came to glasses and other such things. It was that clumsiness, actually, that made Remus just get plastic glasses instead of actual glass ones. He couldn't suppress a small chuckle when he remembered what had happened with the rest of his glass glasses. Remus brought his head back from the memory when she mentioned something about him being everyone's favorite pooch. "Yea, although little old ladies HATE me for some reason...course then again they hate all dogs, pretty much. Cat lovers, really," Remus said with a mock sigh.
He didn't mind cats, they just sort of got on his nerves with their egos. Remus blinked noticeably when she retorted that he had so much stuff in his coffee that he probably couldn't tell. He couldn't really disagree with her on that one because he admit he could barely taste the coffee in there. "True, True," he replied with a laugh. "If you think I put a lot of sugar in coffee you should see me when I drink tea..." he added, giving a chuckle. People were slightly disturbed by his coffee habits but they hurled at how much sugar, creme, and milk that he used in tea.
