Ever go to a site to play your favorite character in a Dr. Who or Torchwood setting, only to find out their history was changed? Most of the ideas out there are some sort of AU, which is interesting in and of itself, but leaves out a lot for the supporting characters. The plot is usually about one or two characters and how things are different for them. It's their world, we're just living in it.
So what are we to do? Play our favorite character and adapt them to their world. That or start your own board, with an AU idea that revolves around your own favorite character. Hence perpetuating the cycle.
Now. . . ever wonder what happens to all these AU characters? They all have one thing in common. They changed one decision, and one is all it takes.
