Emma ran her finger along the spines of the books, tracing the names of the authors. A collection of Byron, a copy of 'The Prince,' an untried work on Quantum Mechanics, and, secretly at the bottom of her stack, a paperback mystery novel. She dropped the packet at the front, luxuriating in the atmosphere of the used book shop. The undescribable smell of thousands of books stacked in careless piles in the odd and strangely-positioned bookshelves. Emma gave the cashier the money, eyes roving the shelves behind the counter, seeking out anything to catch her fancy. With a smile she accepted the proffered bag and left, striding out into the city streets.

"You know," a voice drawled from behind Emma. "There are more than a few world leaders out there who would be a tad worried to find you of all mutants in possession of The Prince."
Raven stepped out from the white-clad woman's shadow to walk beside her. There was a sharp contrast between the teenager's dark cloak and Emma's pale - everything. However differen't their looks or ages, Raven walked easily beside her.
"Sure, they're all fools, but what else is new?"

"Right now they have more things to worry about then what books I'm reading Rachel." Emma said as she continued to walked down the sidewalk "The world is going to hell and everyone hates us again." She replied as she headed into a coffee shop with the young woman who was once her second in command of her unit "What brings you to Hell's Kitchen?" She asked looking at the girl as she waited in line usually she would use her powers to move the people out of her way but she wasn't in a hurry today for once in a very long time.

"What's this I here about the world hating us again?" Raven answered. "I never realised they'd stopped." She shook her head at some of the odd looks she was getting and pulled her hood onto her head, shielding her face from the gazes of bystanders.
Raven shrugged in return to Emma's question. She didn't really know what had drawn her here. She had worked with Emma for the past year, trusted her, but they had gone their seperate ways.
The line moved forward. "Nightwing and I are recreating the Teen Titans." She said on a whim. "There are probably some of your students who would benefit from being able to train with the titans, at least on weekends."
Raven didnt' even bother to remind Emma that she didn't go by Rachel. She had gotten used to it, from the White Queen at least.

"Most of the students were sent home or if they were old enough they most likely joined or were drafted and I haven't heard from any of them to know if there alive or not." Emma told her as she moved forward with the line. A few more minutes later the people in front of her began leaving as if they just remembered they had to be some where but was just Emma useing her telepathy to move them out of her way so she could get her coffee faster. Once the last person was out of her way she stepped up and placed her order and waited.

Raven quirked an eyebrow at Emma but said nothing. She disaproved of a lot of things about the older woman. Her clothing styles and her constant use of her powers for trivial things, only starting the list, but the White Queen had earned her respect enough for her to keep her mouth shut.
Placing an order with Emma she asked for a hot tea, store baught was never as good, but beggers can't be choosers.
"I heard about M-day." She ventured tentatively, "I had no idea how much of the information I could trust, though. It just seemed too..." She trailed off. Then changing the subject,
"Will you be contenuing your work in the school, searching out new young mutants to be trained and given sanctuary?"

"We haven't decided to re-open the school yet let alone rebuild what was destroyed from the bombings." Emma said choosing not to get into M-Day "If they don't reopen the school I'll open my own, teaching is my life and I'm not going to give up on those children even if the others do." She said as she paid for her coffee then headed back outside.

Raven nodded, what Emma said made sense. The caped girl paid for her tea and followed the older woman.
"I'm sure that there are a lot of rich mutant sympathisers out there who would gladly help fund repairs, a new school. But what about the other teachers? I know that some were in the war. I came across a fellow, Cyclops, do you know him? Right after I'd returned. He seemed pretty set on getting the school back together."
She took a sip of her tea, letting the steamy rich liquid roll down her throat. It felt good, not to have to worry about suicide bombers in every street and snipers from every roof-top.
