Oscar Wilde Academy

The boy in lipstick. The girl who is really a boy. The two football players kissing with guilt behind the bleachers. The bisexual told that her ‘sexuality is not real.’ The lesbian under constant pressure from male classmates. The two-gendered person unable to express themselves in gender clichés. The young couples forced to conceal their affection.
Youths with alternate sexualities and gender issues face much hardship in general schools. In some places, they must hide their desires altogether. In others, they face anything from cheerful ribbing to violence for expressing their preference. Despite intelligence, kindness, cruelty, ambition, laziness, or any other trait, they will rarely find an island of peace and normalcy amidst the other high school students.
For fifteen years, Oscar Wilde Academy has extended another choice to these young men and women. Four hundred students each year journey to quiet Upstate New York, to live at a quaint and old fashioned school. The finest teachers, art programs, recommendations and college studies may be found at this venerable building. These students will also find each other. Between them, they may build the isle of refuge rarely found in the usual American schools. When they graduate, they will do so as vibrant, whole men and women, who weathered the difficult schooling and will find a bright future.
However, the school’s town, Fall Glen, has darkened the doorstep of this institution. Certain townsfolk lie in wait for an opportunity to close down the school. These men and women resent the changes in their old style town. They also resent the different morality these students bring with them, and the alumni who have settled to raise alternative families in their town. The headmaster will keep open the school at any personal cost. As long as these students desire a safe harbor, he will strive to gift it to them.
