"And I realized that I'd been wrong all along about the magnets. It had not been Edward and Jacob that I'd been trying to force together, it was the two parts of myself, Edward's Bella and Jacob's Bella. But they could not exist together, and I never should have tried."
Eclipse by Stephenie Meyer
The battle for Bella's heart is still being fought and that girl finds herself more torn than ever before. Jacob knows about the upcoming wedding, but he is still determined to save her from that "leech" and give her a real life. Edward has agreed to be the bigger person and leave if Bella ever wished it, but until that point he is in the fight as well. The fact that the wedding approaches is something on all of their minds. Edward is finally marrying the love of his existence; Jacob is more determined than ever to win Bella; and Bella is confused and hurt from trying to love both Jacob and Edward.
Alice has until August thirteenth to plan the wedding, and though Bella set limits, Alice has decided to test those boundaries. She has even gone so far as to invite the Denali clan from Alaska; needless to say, Tanya is not too pleased that Edward is getting married. What will their visit bring for the family?
Bella has yet to tell Charlie and Renee the news, something she cannot put off much longer as invitations will soon be mailed, but still she hesitates. She attempts to convince herself that it is their reaction that is causing her resistance, but she is definitely having second thoughts about walking down the aisle.
The wolves are becoming a bit more relaxed with the Cullens near, though they still do not trust the bloodsuckers. Jacob accidentally slips that Bella is going to become one of the leeches, the pack grows restless. Such an action would break the treaty between the werewolves and vampires in addition to breaking Jacob's heart, but they really cannot take action until the treaty is broken. Stuck in limbo for the time, the pack has an important decision to make.
When Jane returned to Volterra, she casually mentioned to Caius about Bella's condition, knowing of his reaction. The Volturi founders have decided that it is time they pay a visit to their good friend, Carlisle, and check up on the situation. Aro is eager to see Bella's powers, Jane hates the fact that her place is being challenged, and Caius is not too happy about a coven that is beginning to rival that of the Volturi.
