The wind had just stopped blowing, and a great shadow began to spread across the center of the city. It was rush hour, and men and women hurried to get home to their families after hectic days at the office. 5:32
That's when it hit.
That's when the bombers swooped over the city, a city where superhumans were known to occupy, and bombs were dropped. Some exploded, sending everything and anything soaring across the sky in a flaming mass. Some were chemical, spreading and infecting and killing anyone nearby.
Children, men, and women screamed and ran in the streets, and body parts crashed down everywhere. The heart of Star City had in an instant become a cloud of black smoke, toxic air and red flames.
The military reacted soon, and the dogfights began in the air over the city. The edges were the only place that hadn't been blown away, and people were desperately trying to get away.

It had been a few hours since the bombing, and the news spread across the world like wildfire. "Desperate Rogue Terrorists Take More Lives"
But that couldn't convey the true horror of it all. Dick Grayson, the former Robin, and current Nightwing showed up with his own small group of heroes...each riding in their own aircraft. Nightwing was ready to do some rescuing. He landed his jet with great skill and care and was leaping out of the cockpit within seconds. He didn't bother to look for his allies or partners, he instead started forward into the destruction plagued city. The armed forced had already arrived in droves, but he would do his part. Anything would help. As he pulled on his gas mask and trudged through the dark clouds the plumed through the streets he hoped in vain to see a friendly face. He was normally a fighter, but he came today to help some injured citizens. He would round them up and transport them as best he could to the nearby safehavens. As his dark blue eyes peered around he lifted him comm device to his mouth, the sound of hise voice echoing due to the intrusion of his mask. His voice was somber and low. "Guys...if anyone is on this channel, it's Nightwing. I'n in Star City, Search and Rescue."He peered around and heeved his chest a bit at the brutal images around him. "I need help on this one..."

The Spoiler was pretty much out of her element here. She had no idea how to deal with any of this. Rescuing the survivors of a terrorist bombing? That was absolutely foreign territory.
But people needed help, and so long as she donned the Spoiler costume she was more than ready to provide that help.
The dust and chemical cloud made Stephanie cough and hack until she could slip on a gas mask. She trudged through the still hot debris and peered around through her dark blue mask. She spotted Nightwing in the distance, but chose not to approach him right away.
She slipped away and chose a different path, wondering who she could possibly find in this huge mess.

Colossus was horrified by the sight of the destroyed city before him as an old friend gave him a lift in a private aircraft. He transformed midair and timed his landing just perfectly so that he landed amidst a deserted street, causing a large boom to echo in the air as the very heavy man dropped easily to his feet. The ground beneath him gave slightly, and as he walked away, he did so knowing that he had left a large crater behind. But, there were other things on his mind, things that were far more important.
He heard screams of terror all around him and found himself looking for the best place to start. Anywhere, he thought to himself as he marched over to a turned over car and slowly righted it. A young woman was inside, though unconscious, in the front seat. The sound of screeching metal echoed through the street as he peeled the top of the car off before discarding it easily and breaking the woman's safety restraints.
Her eyes flickered open and she let out a scream and slapped at him before passing out yet again. Disturbed, he gently lifted her from the car, hoping that she had not suffered a spine or head injury, before placing her gently on the ground. Emergency personnel, the few that had arrived with the armed forces, seemed to suddenly notice Colossus as they lifted the woman onto a stretcher and disappeared out of his sight.
"This is most tragic," he muttered to himself as he noticed a partially collapsed building to his left and darted forward, fully prepared to ensure that there was no one trapped inside.

Steve arrived in a Quinjet, with a hazmat team and a few SHIELD agents with him. Although he wasn't getting along with SHIELD at the moment, he knew he needed their help on this one. Lives were on the balance and time was of the up most importance. He found a space to land, and sat the jet down, before putting on a gas mask and leaveing the jet. Upon seeing the site before him, his blood began to boil in anger. How could anyone do something like this?! Has everyone lost their minds?! Steve thought he had seen the worste things possible when he saw the concentration camps in Germany and Austria, but this was even more disterbing. Body parts laid all over the place, and the smell of burnt flesh and hair hung in the air all around him. It was hard for him not to feel anger towards the people who had done this, but he knew he had a job to do, and he was determined to do it. He motioned for the agents to start finding and helping everyone they could, as he made his way towards the sound of a child crying. He walked over to the boy and looked at him. He was laying on his back, screaming at the top of his lungs. His clothes had been burned off and there were burns coveribg his entire body. Steve motioned for an agent to help him carry him away. This whole thing broke his heart as he struggled not to cry at the whole situation, and forced himself to help all those he could.

"I'm on my way Dick. Hold the fort until I get there," Huntress said through her Bluetooth communicator. How could she turn down a request from Nightwing? She couldn't, that was the point. Nightwing hardly ever requested back-up and now, when he did, Huntress came running.
Speeding towards Star City on her motorcycle, Huntress prepared for the worst. Boy was she right. There, before her was a city that was completely gone and destroyed. Star City was a main superhero home to many and now most of them were gone. Huntress skidded to a halt in front of Dick Grayson.
"Oh my God, Nightwing, what happened?" was all Huntress could utter as she climbed off her motorcycle. She let it fall to its side as she stared at the completely leveled city with wide eyes. Huntress let her mouth hang open as she stared at the black ash and rubble. It was then that she noticed three other heroes.
"I think you all agree with me when I say we need to find who did this and take them down, hard!" Huntress uttered, hoping they'd hear. Huntress walked over to Nightwing and finally let out a heavy sigh. Huntress turned to Nightwing and merely stared at him, trying to search for words to say to him.

Nightwing was more than relieved when he saw Huntress coming on her motorcycle. It was a welcome relief to see someone he was familiar with.
"A bombing..." , he said a bit under his breath. He shot a quick look as he saw the other heroes who had come to help. "I think some heroes might have been killed here. Star City is a well known haven for heroes..which is why.." , he stopped talking for a bit and took a few more steps into the broken city.
He peered around to make sure no one was looking and he pulled Huntress in close. "I don't this was terrorists or even our enemies from the war. It doesn't make any sense. This is a front of some kind. I know there has to be some kind of villain behind this"
Nightwing sighed deeply and looked around again. He couldn't much stand the sights or the smells. "I need proof...help me on this one Helena" , he looked up at the woman garbed in purple with pleading eyes. He knew most others wouldn't believe his theory, but he was sure of it for some reason he couldn't put his thumb on.

Raven clentched her jaw when she saw the sights around her. Small groups of heroes were scattering throughout the city, but it wasn't enough. The city was too big and the radius of devistation too wide. She shook her head sadly, but jerked herself out of her reverie. There was work to do.
Not even bothering to check in with any other heroes she flew to the first piece of devastation she saw. A burning building with the roof collapsing in. Closing her eyes and focusing her powers she pulled select parts of the wall away, careful not to collaps entirely. Flying inside she began pulling out the survivors. There was not time to collect the dead.
The last living person was a small child, probably three or four. Raven gently picked up the screaming child and carried her out of the building as it collapsed to the ground.
Setting down the toddler, she looked around, seeking the next front. Yes, that was it, don't think about all the death, all the devastation, all the fear. Just go from one building to another, one thing at a time, don't think, just do.

"I'll be with you all the way Dick, you can count on that. If there's anyone here I trust, its you. Now lets go, we have a city to save."
Huntress held her head an inch from Nightwing's. As she whispered to him, all the memories of their relationship swirled in her head. Their time together, their 'patrol' that one night, and their working together on the Outsiders. Huntress still wanted to be with Dick, but it was clear he moved on. At least, she thought so.
She pulled away and pulled out her miniature crossbow. Huntress fired it at a building nearby and a strong cable line flew out and attached to the building. She put her arm around Nightwing, smiled, and flew towards the building. In her arms were the former Boy Wonder.
"I say we work together. Those heroes can handle themselves. If we're going to find out who's behind this, we need to work together .... starting now."
Huntress landed on the roof and let go of Nightwing. She put her crossbow away and crossed her arms. Huntress looked at Nightwing and smiled. She was going to enjoy working with him, no matter what.
