Spoiler was pretty much through with just sticking to Gotham. She had a car now, and could get around to different places pretty easily.Sometimes she could even hitch rides with other heroes. Besides, Gotham was Batmans city and she was always out to find her own place. Well, not quite her own..but she was always looking for a new mentor. The training from Batman had helped a lot, she was even briefly Robin. But now she was alone. She had been training hard, and she wanted to start fresh. Today she found herself in the great city of New York. It was pretty overwhelming at first, but she quickly adjusted. It was sorta like Gotham.
It was the twilight of the evening, when street lights were just beginning to flicker on as the sun ducked down for the night. Stephanie sat on the ledge of a tall building, her blonde locks of hair being tossed in the wind as she pulled her black mask down. It sure did get stuffy. She waited, watching below for something interesting to happen.

Mackenzie slapped the steering wheel in frustration as she pulled the Camaro over to the curb. She was vividly cursing herself for not listening to the mechanic and getting the alternator replaced. But, she'd been so sure that it had just been a weak battery and had replaced it. After all, the guy had looked like some sort of hick, and she hadn't thought he knew a ratchet from a screwdriver. Yet, she was the one on a less than familiar road, her car lifeless, and no destination in sight.
Digusted with herself, she grabbed the keys and slid out of the car languidly, brushing her hair back from her face as she slammed the door and leaned against the side. "So much for my night," she found herself muttering as she glanced around. Mack realized that it was later than she had thought, and that there was no way she'd be able to find a local place to tow her in for a decent price. She'd have to give a kidney or a leg or something that was just as equally disgusting.
Of course the woman didn't have a cell phone, so she knew that she'd have to find a pay phone. With that in mind, she opened the driver's side door and locked it before slamming it shut again. Then, with her hands tucked inside the pockets of her jeans, she started down the road.
Only to stop dead in her tracks when she heard a noise resembling that of a shriek. Confused and alarmed, she glanced around herself and furrowed her brows. "What the heck?"

Stephanie watched through slitted blue eyes as the Camaro slid to a rough halt. The life seemed to be drain from it, but she wasn't here to offer a helping hand to stranded motorists. She was after some crime.
She continued to peer downwards as a frustrated looking woman exited the vehicle and marched down the sidewalk. "Not a happy camper", Steph whispered to herself.
Her head jerked to the side suddenly as a piercing scream reached her ears. She almost smiled. Almost. She pulled on her tight black mask and her heavy hood as she extended a zip line and raced downwards in search of the source of the shrieks.

Long legs carried Mackenzie easily over the deserted sidewalk. In fact, it only took her a matter of ten seconds or so to arrive in front of an apparently empty building. Green eyes darted back and forth as she looked for the source of the shriek, only to quickly realize that it was coming from inside of the building. Alarmed, she wasted no time drawing back her foot and sending the large door flying inward. The sound of the knob slamming into the wall echoed loudly in the room even as she stormed inside, searching.
"Guess we got us a goodie goodie." Mackenzie turned on her heel and raised a hand defensively as a large metal baton came flying toward her face. Luckily, she caught it in her grasp and crumpled it like some sort of beer can. "Man, she's one of them supers!"
Mackenzie took inventory of the situation and quickly realized that what she had thought was an abandoned building was apparently some sort of shelter. The main room that she found herself standing in was huge, and cots seemed to line both walls. But, directly across from the door that she'd thrown open was a large table and benches, were women and children sat huddled together.
"What's going on here?" she found herself asking, even as she let her gaze sweep back to where a group of four rather large thugs stared her down.
(OOC: I just figured that I was tired of taking down the same ol' thugs. I also figured that there would be a lot of unemployed and destitute people out there.)

Stephanie slinked along carefully swinging in the shadows from building to building. The women that had experienced car problems had obviously heard the scream too, and had, for whatever reason...decided to check it out. Most people would turn the other cheek. These were dangerous times after all, and people were scared and bitter.
She stopped as she watched the woman enter the abandoned warehouse. Warehouses were never a good thing. There was never anything good inside. She meandered around the inside for a few moments before gathering her spirits and catapulting inside.
She frowned when she saw all of the destitute people gathered around. This was their home? As she turned on her boots, she came face to face with a group of threatening looking men.
"Gee guys" she said holding her hands in front of her. "Just heard screaming..came to help.."

Just as Mackenzie glanced over at the newcomer, one of the less than friendly men decided to lunge toward her. Brute and hair arms were wrapped around her chest and her arms were pinned at her sides as the giant of a man lifted her off the ground. Stunned for a moment, her feet kicked out in a comical motion. Then when she came to her wits, she merely forced her arms apart and caused the man to release her with a grunt. She hovered in the air as she turned, quickly sending an uppercut his way that sent him flying back into his cronies.
Annoyed, her feet came to rest on the floor yet again as she once again glanced over at the newcomer, this time able to at least give them a quick once-over. “Got no idea,” she called out as she turned and faced down the three remaining thugs. The fourth, it seemed, was a bit dazed and holding the side of his jaw for dear life. “What’s going on here?”
But, she didn’t get an answer as she let her gaze sweep over to where the women and children sat, huddled together. Even Mackenzie could see the fear in their gazes, but what struck her as odd was that many of them seemed to look at her with just as much animosity, if not more, than they spared for the men. Fists clenched, she turned her eyes back toward the thugs.
“On the count of three, someone’s talking or ya’ll ain’t going to be walking.”
