Annie sat on at a bus stop with her legs crossed in front of her. She had somehow managed to keep the rent up on her one room apartment with her cruddy watiress job. She worked full time, and it was always just scraping at barely enough. She looked up at the sound of screeching breaks, gripping her cain slightly ready to stand up. Her face fell when she realized it was just a squeeky old truck.
Get yer damn brakes fixed...
The angry woman cursed in her head. Yes, because people couldn't hear her, she insulted them with her mind. Her head snapped up again, but this time at the sound of sirens. Her eyes followed about two firetrucks and ambulances that passed. She watched them turn a sharp corner just down the street. Lookinh up she realized the problem. A fire. Of course, what was new?
What she couldn't exactly figure out was whether she should go check it out, or sit and patiently wait for her bus. Few long minutes passed before she stood and began to quickly limp in the direction of the hazard.
Waiting for the bus was boring anyways.
Annie finally arrived at the scene to see officers already holding back a crowd.
"Yeah, there's a giant raging fire and ye people jus' wanna get closer!"
She muttered under her breath. Annie let out a sharp breath in pure boredom, seeing as this was nothing new. As she turned on her heel to walk away, she heard a peircing scream. Her mind told her to foget it and walk along before she just got sucked ito the rubber-necking, but she turned her head anyways.
What she saw made her freeze. Not that it was a young girl trapped in a third story window surrounded by flames, but the fact that the young girl looked exactly like her youger sister Haley. She would have pulled off both the twins, except for Haley had black hair and Sam did not. Annie's muscels tenses and her eyes darted to the fire men. No matter how long they sprayed that hose, it really wasn't gonna let up any time soon.
Giving in she moved forward to the line of policemen and shoved her cain under the nose of one of them.
"Hold this."
She ordered, but got a grimace and a scoot back in response.
"Sir, hold it or be hooked with it."
She said more firmly as she forced her way passed and her cain into his hands.
"Hey, you can't--!"
The officer began, but the Irish ignored him and ran through the front door, a gust of flames following her.
