Super Powers:Telepathy: can manipulate the minds of others and even higher order animals within a vast, potentially limitless radius. Her notable powers include:
Telepathic Cloak: Can mask her presence from being detected by others. Her abilities can at times go undetected or be counteracted by other more powerful telepaths depending on their level of skill in using their own psi abilities. She can extend these defenses to others around her as well.
Psionic Shield: Ability to erect a psychic shield for protection of herself and of others minds.
Telepathic Camouflage: Ability to mask herself, and other peoples' presence from those around her. Can telepathically disguise herself, making her appearance to those around her quite different (changing the appearance of clothing, as well as more involved disguising).
Mind Control: Ability to control the minds of others upon mere concentration. Astral Teleportation
Mind Possession: Ability to possess the mind of another, and use that beings body as her own.
Mind Alteration: Ability to alter the minds of others by force of will, changing their personality partially or entirely.
Telepathic Illusions: Ability to create realistic telepathic illusions and cause people to experience events which are not actually occurring.
Mental Paralysis: Ability to induce temporary mental or physical paralysis.
Mental Amnesia: Can erase any awareness of particular memories or cause total amnesia.
Psionic Blasts: Can project psionic force bolts which have no physical effects but which can affect a victim's mind so as to cause the victim pain or unconsciousness and turning someone brain-dead.
Astral Projection: Can project her astral form from her body onto astral planes or the physical planes. In the physical plane she can travel in astral form over vast distances. In the astral plane, she can mentally create psionic objects and manipulate the aspects of her environment. She can communicate with others astrally through her own will, or through contact with the thoughts and memories of others.
Mind Transferal: Able to transfer both her mind and powers into other host bodies if her own physical body could be somehow killed.
Mental Detection: Can sense the presence of another superhuman mutant within a small but as yet undefined radius of himself by perceiving the distinctive mental radiations emitted by such a being.
Induce Pain: Can also induce mental pain merely by touching the brow of her victim.
Cloak Mind: Ability to rearrange the “mental engrams” of mutants so their distinctive mutant though patterns cannot be detected by Cerebro-type devises or by other telepaths.
Mind Link: Ability to develop a mental link with any person which remains as a connection to that individual.
Astral Teleportation: teleport over long distances by psychokinetically shunting herself in and out of the astral plane (she was also shown to be able to carry additional weight, such as another person, when she teleported, but her limits were never fully tested).
Psionic Siphoning: able to siphon the psychic energies from other psionic mutants. She could then use the stolen psychic energy to boost her own powers or channel the energy into someone else (usually Nate Grey) to temporarily increase their psionic abilities.
Telekinesis: Possesses telekinetic abilities enabling her to manipulate matter and energy, and to some extent energy, psionically. She can levitate herself in order to fly at high speeds or merely hover, manipulate matter on a molecular level, project telekinetic shields capable of withstanding missile blasts, create objects of pure psionic force, focus her mental energy at a specific target in order she can release devastating force blasts, and control the biological functions of other lifeforms including other humans.
Reality Warping: ability to bend the quantum strings that make up reality within a localized area.
Dark Psyche: ability to release the dark side of a person's personality, and make them evil.
Goblin Force: ability to tap into dark sorcery allowing her to summon various goblins, demons and other entities.
Healing: ability to heal others (as Anodyne).
Learned Abilities:Madelyne Pryor had the pilot and computer talents. She also had the occult talent after becoming the Goblin Queen.
Equipment:None
Weaknesses (Must Have):Madelyn's powers are almost an exact copy of Jean Grey, but they are much weaker, she cannot be controlled by the phoenix force because of it. She is mentally unstable at times, and her hatred of Scott Summers makes her lose her head, and she goes off half-cocked.
Background:At some point the genetic engineer known as Mister Sinister obtained a cell sample from Jean Grey, now known as Phoenix, of the X-Men. Through advanced scientific means Sinister caused the clone to grow into an adult double of Grey far more quickly than a normal human being would reach adulthood.
The real Jean Grey was cast into suspended animation by the cosmic entity known as the Phoenix Force. The Phoenix Force took on a portion of Jean Grey's consciousness and created for itself a duplicate of Grey's body. In this form the Phoenix Force impersonated Jean Grey within the X-Men, calling herself Phoenix. Eventually, through the psionic manipulations of the original mutant called Mastermind, the Phoenix became the insane Dark Phoenix. Repulsed by the havoc Dark Phoenix was wreaking, the portion of Jean Grey's personality within her caused Dark Phoenix to kill her own mortal body.
When that form perished, the Phoenix Force sent its portion of Grey's personality back to Earth, keyed to return to a body with Grey's genetic code. This portion of Grey's consciousness made contact with Grey's original body, which still slept in suspended animation. Appalled after receiving the memories of the destruction wreaked by Dark Phoenix, the original Jean Grey rejected this portion of her consciousness. The latter portion then infused itself into the body of the clone of Grey that Sinister had created, giving the clone consciousness for the first time.
Sinister programmed the clone with a set of false memories. He named her "Madelyne Pryor" and programmed her to meet and fall in love with Scott Summers, who was Cyclops, another member of the X-Men. Sinister's plan was that Pryor would bear Scott Summers a child who would possess the superhuman genetic potential of both Jean Grey and Scott Summers. Sinister would then take the child under his own control.
Sinister sent Pryor to Alaska and placed her in a job as a pilot for North Star Airways, the air freight company run by Scott Summers' grandparents, Philip and Deborah Summers. It was in Alaska that Scott Summers first met Pryor. He was immediately struck by her exact resemblance to Jean Grey, whom he believed to be dead. However, after becoming convinced that Pryor was not Jean Grey, Summers married her. Months later she gave birth to their son, Nathan Christopher Summers.
Shortly after the infant was born, Cyclops and his fellow X-Man Storm held a competition to determine which of them would be leader of the X-Men. As yet, Pryor was unaware of her own superhuman powers. However, she did not want Scott to divide his time between her and the X-Men, so she unconsciously used her own awakening powers to influence the contest. As a result, Scott lost, and he went to live with Madelyne and the baby in Anchorage, Alaska.
Strains grew between Scott and Madelyne, whose fears that Scott loved Jean Grey, not her, continued to mount. Then Jean Grey's original body emerged from suspended animation at long last. Learning that Jean was still alive, Scott went to meet her in New York, even though Madelyne had warned him that if he left, their marriage was over. Scott remained in New York, where he, Jean, and three other members of the original X-Men formed a new organization, X-Factor.
Learning that the original Jean Grey was still alive, Sinister decided to eliminate Pryor, lest the truth about her origin be exposed. When Pryor was in San Francisco with her son on business, Sinister sent his team of assassins, the Marauders, to kill Pryor and capture her son. Pryor used her emerging powers to defend herself, although she lost the infant. The X-Men found Pryor, and she decided to remain with them. Sinister placed the baby in an orphanage he controlled.
Later, Pryor began experiencing dreams sent to her by the demons N'astirh and S'ym, that played upon her deep insecurities and tempted her with offers of power. The dreams further awakened Pryor's latent powers and strengthened the darker side of her personality.
Pryor was abducted to the nation of Genosha. During her captivity the vengeful side of Pryor's personality grew much stronger, and her latent powers continued to emerge.
One night, while she was working with the advanced computer system, she fell asleep and was somehow contacted by the Limbo demon lord, N’Astrish. Sensing her power, and her inner bitterness, he offered her power for revenge. She gave into the dark portion of her soul, and took him up on the bargain. N’Astrish somehow used dark Limbo magick to awaken the latent powers Madelyne possessed.
Madelyne then began to corrupt the X-Men from within. She censored incoming news about X Factor, only allowing the X-Men to know the worst. Madelyne also seduced Scott’s brother, Alex (Havok).
When Inferno began, Madelyne became the Goblin Queen, one of the evil beings behind the Inferno. N’Astrish took her to Sinister’s base, where her son was being kept. Madelyne easily beat Sinister and regained her child. She was also able to learn her complete history from Sinister. More bitter than ever, she vowed to sacrifice her own son to open the gateway to Limbo.
Soon, a running battle erupted in the streets of New York City, between the Goblin Queen, the X-Men, and X Factor. Most of the X-Men had given into the darker side of their natures. Havok gave in completely, becoming Madelyne’s Goblin Prince.
Finally, at the top of the trans formed Empire State Building, the final confrontation between Jean and Madelyne began. While they were locked in mental combat, Jean learned all about Madelyne’s distorted life. The X-Men and X-Factor, working together, broke through a force field that the Goblin Queen had placed around herself and Jean. They pressed the Goblin Queen back, and Scott was able to regain possession of his son.
Sensing defeat, the Goblin Queen tried to kill everyone in a massive blast of energy. The members of both teams worked together so that no one was hurt. The Goblin Queen took the brunt of the blast, fatally injuring herself.
Dying, she forced Jean into a mental lock, meaning to carry Jean to her death alongside her. Suddenly, the Phoenix Force within the Goblin Queen offered Jean a deal. If Jean would allow it to enter her, the Phoenix would break the mental lock and save Jean from death. Jean reluctantly agreed, and Madelyne died alone.
Scott Summers and Jean Grey together raised Scott and Madelyne's son, Nathan, until they were forced to send him into the future to save his life from a techno-organic virus. Nathan returned to the X-Men's time as the adult known as Cable.
The genetic counterpart of Cable in the alternate timeline known as the "Age of Apocalypse" was Nate Grey, the mutant also known as X-Man. When Nate Grey first arrived in the "mainstream" timeline of the X-Men, the disoriented Nate subconsciously sought to find his friend, the Jean Grey of his own reality. Nate Grey's psionic powers are so enormous that he thus subconsciously re-created Jean Grey's duplicate, Madelyne Pryor. Hence, the Madelyne Pryor who is now active on Earth is not truly the original Madelyne, but is a "psionic shell" that duplicates her personality, powers, and memories.
At first the re-created Madelyne befriended Nate, but as her powers re-emerged, so did her memories and her sinister personality. Sponsored by the mutant Selene, Pryor gained admission to the Inner Circle of the Hellfire Club, recently reorganized by Sebastian Shaw, and became Shaw's lover. Since joining the Club, Pryor battled Nate Grey and the Jean Grey of this reality. She also recently met peacefully with her grown son, Cable.
Personality :Before she became the Goblin Queen, Madelyne was a brave and caring woman. When Scott left her to re-join the newly resurrected Jean Grey, Madelyne still acted the same on the surface, but underneath she was very bitter and angry. After she became the Goblin Queen and found out her true origins, she was consumed with self-loathing and hatred at the world that had spurned her.
In her bitterness she was even willing to sacrifice her own son to gain revenge on the world. In the end, she was willing to die if she could at least take one of her enemies with her
Other:Ex-Wife of Scott Summers. Madelyn will do anything to put her ex-husband in the ground for the pain he caused her by leaving her for Jean Grey. She will side with anyone she deems fit to help her accomplish her goal.
-------------------------------------------------------------
Brief Sample Roleplay Madelyn sneered at the screaming morons that ran along the grounds of the Xavier Mansion...she quite enjoyed trying to kill these people...especially after the war. They were merely pawns in her main goal...:Destroy Scott Summers. She laughed as they fired their guns at her, and she blocked the bullets with a telepathic shell.
"Give up, you stupid idiots! Hand over Scott Summers, I know he is here somewhere..." she said with a laugh, and raised her hands, shooting psionic blasts around the area, hitting and killing a few. She sneered as a few of the mutants came after her, and she cackled.
"Nice try, but unless you give something better, you'll be done for." she laughed, and hovered in the air with a smirk. She raised her hands, and began to rip the trees out of the ground with a laugh. Then she saw Wolverine....she cursed under her breath...he was one of the few who COULD stop her for some reason...she turned and rose in the air.
"Next time, fellows. I'll be back. I expect Scott to be handed over next time, or you'll all regret it..." she said, flying off and leaving the situation...for now. But she would be back. And next time...ther ewould be hell to pay...
