Cassandra Rachel Darcy/Stealh
-------------------------------------------------------------
Canon or your own: Original
Copyright (Marvel/DC/etc): My own with DC elements
Characters civilian name: Cassandra Rachel Darcy - ‘Cass’ or ‘Darcy’
Code names/Aliases: Stealth
Class [Superhero, Vigilante, Mercenary..etc]: No class for ‘lawyer’? Seriously, they deserve one. Or a ‘politician’ class. I’m pretty sure Cass is a rogue.
-------------------------------------------------------------
Gender: Female
Age: 29
Apparent Age: 25
Hair: Golden brown
Eyes: Dark brown
Height and weight: 5’4”, 140 pounds
Appearance: Cass has a lithe and graceful appearance, with soulfully large dark brown eyes and leonine, tawny hair that tumbles down her back in graceful waves. She normally keeps it up in a bun or in a pony tail, but locks of it have a tendency to come out and fall around her deeply tan skin. Her lips are full and normally red, her nose pert, and her face heartshaped. She has a slender appearance with strong arms and legs, a flat stomach, and an average but beautifully formed bosom. She normally wears tank tops and leggings or pants when not at work. When she is at work she wears suits. She almost never wears a skirt or a dress. She prefers to wear black to help her blend in, but she also wears gold, brown, and dark blue.

Super Powers:
Cassandra has the power of negation, specifically of sound and powers. When she activates her powers, she can wipe out all sound waves in a twenty-foot radius, which means she can attack from twenty feet away and no one has a clue where she’s coming from, (well unless she’s in their line of sight). Her power negation is much smaller - only ten feet, but she can stop any and all ‘natural’ powers.
Learned Abilities: Cassandra is especially good at martial arts and uses it as her main form of offensive and defensive attack. She has very fast reflexes and admirable stamina from being in shape. She is lithe and agile. Another skill she has is fencing, which she is also very good at. She often employs her fencing skills in the courtroom as well, blocking and jabbing with words as smoothly as if she had a rapier for a tongue.
Equipment: She consistently carries a cell phone and an iPod, as well as a small number of shurikens. She has two sais that she can wield as well as a sword, but she doesn't usually carry those 'bigger' weapons with her unless she's going into a situation where she needs them.
Weaknesses (Must Have):
Cassandra cannot stop manufactured powers, (such as superhuman strength granted by the Green Goblin serum or a spider bite). She can still negate sound around these individuals, but she can’t stop their powers. If they have a mix of natural and manufactured power, she takes out the natural power. Also, she can only stop the power while she remains in the radius, (20 for sound, 10 for power). Once she gets out of range, there’s a couple seconds revival time, (‘rev up’ time for powers, while people get their hearing back slowly), and then everything’s normal again.
When negating sound power, Cassandra can also accidentally boost other senses, such as sight or smell, which means if one cannot hear her coming, they might smell her or feel her right before she attacks.
Background:
Cassandra Darcy was born to Jason and Marisa Darcy, two normal people trying to make a living in crime-infested Gotham without raising too many questions. Marisa kept low-profile, teaching school, and Jason worked in the fabled Police Department. He was formerly one of the honest cops until an attack on Marisa forced him to switch sides. Cassandra was aware of the attack and watched it all in shock. This probably marks the time when she learned Gotham was a city that didn’t always live by its own rules, and the time she began to realize she didn’t need to live by the rules either. But Jason switched sides and now works for the police department as one of the - well corrupt but he still gets some honest stuff done - cops. Marisa doesn’t question and neither does Cassandra because Jason’s paychecks keep them in their trendy (for Gotham) house near the Bridge.
Cassandra grew up swimming in the river. She loved being near water, which is something she carries to this day. Something about the chaotic heartbeat of waves on the shore calms her and helps her think. She was also an explorative soul, finding curiosity to be a major drive for her. She would often go out by herself and explore deeper and deeper into the city, even getting as far as the slimy underground by the time she was thirteen. On her explorations she saw many horrible acts committed and her analytical mind compared them with the life she was leading. She found that she liked having rules because rules could be broken. Her ethical sense was confused as well, since she knew her father was a police officer but sometimes he let things like what she saw go. One murderer would be released, another in jail. The arbitrary decisions were reinforced by her mother, who told her to do what she needed to survive, and damn the consequences.
At the tender age of eight, entering the third grade, Cassandra was surprised to see a crowd on the playground taunting and teasing a withdrawn, very gangly boy. She watched as they tormented him, curious about what they were doing and curious as to how he was going to react to them, and after they left him alone she approached him slowly. He didn’t know she was coming because her powers had been activated shortly after birth, (she was completely unaware of them, she thought she was just really good at sneaking around), and so when she actually spoke to him he spun around and slapped her across the face. Cassandra blinked in surprise, slapped him right back, then grinned widely and said: “Okay, I deserved that, you don’t know I’m good at sneaking up on people. I’m sorry. My name is Cass, what’s yours?”
Cass and the boy - whose name was Jonathan Crane - struck up a rather tenuous friendship. Jonathan was used to having people make fun of him, and Cass for all her friendliness preferred to stick around the sidelines and be a wallflower since not many liked to explore as much as she did. Unfortunately, it didn’t last long - Jonathan was older than Cass and when he went into high school they stopped hanging around each other. Cass didn’t think much of splitting from him - it wouldn’t be until years later when she met him again that she would realize how much she truly missed him.
Cass discovered her powers in high school when she was attacked by a jealous classmate who happened to be a mutant. As the mutant geared up to hit Cass in the face with a fireball, the fireball flickered and died and the mutant couldn’t fire up another one until Cass moved out of range. Cass also learned that her ability to sneak up on people was an actual power when she snuck up on her mother and clapped her hands really loudly - and her mother never noticed. Surprised and even a little afraid, Cass asked the mutant enemy what she could do about it. The mutant suggested either forgetting about it because it was too dangerous to be ‘different’ in Gotham, or find a way to control it. Cass took the second option, going after martial arts training for body control and fencing for fun. She was a quick study in fencing but tended to be a bit of a hothead in martial arts. Her trainer, an elderly but strong man, gradually came to the conclusion that she was using her training to control something deeper within herself and while he never asked her about it, he helped her as much as he could.
Cass’s flawed sense of right and wrong combined with her inherent curiosity and need/love of rules led her to Arkham Asylum as an internship in college. What began as a simple course of study in defending the insane, (she was pre-law), turned into a full-blown career choice. The possibilities for exploration and learning were endless with the insane due to their capricious habits, and Cass often found ways to work the system as her father did, moving criminals to Arkham under the guise of insanity to watch how they, (the possibly sane), interacted with the truly insane.
Working with Rachel Dawes - another DA and a tenuous friend since Rachel didn’t always agree with what Cass did - Cass quickly established herself as a competent and smart lawyer with an eye for the insane. Her ‘curiosity’ was never suspected or mentioned and her ‘interest’ in the insane was limited to people merely thinking she was good at picking out the crazy ones.
The interesting thing is, with all her knowledge of Arkham, she has not yet met Jonathan Crane again. She rarely thinks of him and it is wholly possible that should she meet him, she wouldn’t recognize him on sight.
This, of course, will change.
Personality : Cassandra would seem to be a normal woman. She has a cool and collected attitude in the courtroom, almost always coming across as confident even when she’s not. She is good at fencing, and so she is good at deflection and sniping when she needs to be. She is a little fireball at times, stunningly stubborn, driven, and motivated. Her motivation, however, is the most curious part of her. She has what her parents called insatiable and what some psychologists would call unhealthy curiosity. Growing up in Gotham, she often had her sense of right and wrong reversed due to actions she saw, and so her ethical standpoint is somewhat - fritzed. She can watch torture, for example, and while her morality will tell her its wrong, she is completely entranced by it, curious to see how things react. Thankfully she’s never become curious enough to try anything on her own, but there’s no telling what she could do.
To the average person, Cassandra is talkative but a little spacey at times, sometimes saying very random and disturbing things, but overall an approachable and friendly individual.
Other: She’s single....but she’s got a little thing for Jonathan Crane. Also, there’s one little thing I’d like to note - I don’t know if this is a power or just a presence thing - Cass can get the insane people to talk to her. Maybe it’s cause she’s a little twisted herself or she seems to inherently understand their babbling language. But Cass can walk into a room and command the attention of all the insane people in it if she needs to.
