Venom
-------------------------------------------------------------
Cannon or your own: Canon
Copyright (Marvel/DC/ect): Marvel
Characters civilian name: MacDonald Gargan
Code names/Aliases: Venom (formally the scorpion)
Class [Superhero, Vigilante, Mercenary..ect]: Captured Villain
-------------------------------------------------------------
Gender: Male
Age: 32
Apparent Age: Though his body is as toned as an extremely fit man of his age, he looks older due to his pallid and wasted visage.
Hair: Brown/None
Eyes: Brown/White
Height and weight: 6’2” 225 lbs
Appearance: Without the Symbiote, or rather when the Symbiote is hidden for he is never truly separate from it now. Mac looks, not to put too fine a point on it, rough as hell. Unshaven, blood shot eyes and a vague slump about his demeanour suggesting he hasn’t slept in days. He is thought by the same token ridiculously lean and toned thanks to his original source of super powers the Scorpion Serum. As for clothing the Symbiote can take the form of mimicking any form of clothing and Mac usually just aims to blend with any crowd he is in rather than going with any fashion sense of his own.
As Venom Mac is, as a rule, massively more muscular, particually around the shoulders and upper body, inhumanly so in fact, his size and build though are fluid however. While at rest he is merely a more titanic version of himself, a few inches taller with the additional muscular bulk and predatory teeth in a broad mouth. However the more muscle he has to being to bear in a fight the larger and more muscled his appearance will become, at the fight of his strength and rage he a appears a truly inhuman ogre hunched forward with fangs that look like something out of Jurassic park. He is of course the iconic black and white costume, his eyes, clearly visible in the white patches of his face are themselves cloudy and white. Occasionally in battle the Symbiote will produce a scorpion tail reminiscent of his old costume.

Super Powers: Without the Symbiote unlike its previous host Mac is not powerless, far from it. He can lift around fifteen tons, run faster and move with greater agility than any Olympian who has ever competed as well as being able to wall crawl and have an inhuman (if far from bullet proof) level of durability as well as equally unnatural stamina.
When added to the Symbiote however his powers are even greater, with his strength rising as high as being able to lift fifty tons, speed, agility and reflexes to match those of Spider-Man. Durability capable of standing up to all small arms fire without pain and enabling him to survive in extremely inhospitable areas (such as the arctic or a room filled with tear gas) with ease; even surviving in a vacuum for short periods. As well as a regenerative healing factor while nothing next to the likes of Deadpool it is able to heal or cure near any wound, disease or injury given sufficient time and nutrition (Meat). The costume is also capable of producing its own webbing, which is the same slick black material as the suit it’s self save far, far stickier.
The suit is also capable of forming itself; the most common aspects of this are tendrils of the suits material extending particularly in combat which seems to operate almost independently of Mac protecting or supporting him. Though he is also capable of producing blades as hard as steel, most usually from his forearms reminiscent of the pincers on his Scorpion armour. Occasionally he produces a tail akin to his old armour at which time it will be able to extrude webbing and an extremely corrosive acid. Which it should be noted he can spray from his forearms as well. The same methods allow him to disguise himself, the Symbiote being able to imitate any clothing, providing camouflage to near invisibility or even imitate other people.
As with Spider-Man Venom is able to detect danger before it happens, this ‘Spider-Sense’ while not as sophisticated as that of Peter Parker it does allow him plenty of time to get out of even a maelstrom of gunfire. He is also immune to Spider-Man’s Spider-Sense.
Learned Abilities: Before becoming the Scorpion Mac was P.I. and an excellent detective. He was also in the same line of work he became adept at unarmed fighting and was already a ‘tough customer’ years of being a super-villain have only added to these skills making him a rather skilled if untrained fighter.
Equipment: None.
Weaknesses (Must Have): Despite the great resistance to physical injury afforded him by the Venom Symbiote, the Symbiote itself is extremely vulnerable to heat and sonics and can be affected by attacks based on those two weaknesses. Mac is also riddled with controlling nanites which can deliver an electrical shock sufficient to immobilize him and allow him to be tracked with ease by those with the correct Thunderbolt access codes.
Background: Former private investigator Mac Gargan was hired by J. Jonah Jameson to find out how Peter Parker is able to get incredible pictures of Spider-Man. Gargan's efforts to locate Peter in order to find out the truth triggered Parker's spider sense, making him easily avoidable. This was to say the least frustrating for someone who was perhaps the best gumshoe in New York.
Frustrated, Jameson decided to pay $10,000 to Gargan as the subject of an experiment. An experiment created by Dr. Farley Stillwell, a researcher in animal mutation which endowed the subject with the characteristic of another animal. Unfortunately the process resulted in the loss of Gargan's sanity, and the creation of the super-powered criminal menace known as the Scorpion.
Over the years Scorpion fought and was bested by Spider-Man many times. Most of these confrontations were the result of Spider-Man stepping in on an attempt on the life of Jameson, who Gargan hated even more than Spider-Man for the life ruining nature of the Transformation. With his mechanical tail, speed, and strength, Scorpion has always been more than a match for Spider-Man. Only the skill, experience, and quick wit of the web head helped him defeat Gargan.
Later on, Scorpion was recruited by Norman Osborn, informed of Spider-man's real identity, and ordered to kidnap Peter's Aunt May if anything should happen to Osborn. In the middle of his task Scorpion was approached by the recently freed Symbiote. Seeking a new host that shared its hatred of Spider-Man as well as the will and experience of a seasoned criminal, the Symbiote bonded with the Scorpion, who eagerly accepted the offer, and was thus transformed into the monstrous Venom.
After an elaborate plan paid off and the Green Goblin was out of prison, the Goblin led Spider-Man and the Black Cat into a direct confrontation with the newly formed Sinister Twelve, which included the new, more powerful Venom among its ranks.
Venom and the Twelve very nearly defeated Spider-Man before the Fantastic Four and a small Group of Avengers headed by Captain America joined in, leading to the eventual defeat of the Twelve.
In the midst of the battle Osborn escaped, with the full intention to murder Peter's wife, Mary Jane. Spider-Man soon followed only to be stopped by Venom. The two foes continued to battle high above on New York's rooftops. After catching Gargan off balance Spider-Man dropped a condemned building on the new Venom, ending the battle. Venom was arrested and sent to Ryker's Island. He promised Spider-Man he would never reveal his identity, as that was his only leverage against him.
More recently, he has escaped. First, to journey to Battle world, along with a ragtag group of characters including the likes of Henry Pym, Gravity, The Hood, and others, in order to enter a contest of champions.
Gargan later becomes a member of a sub-group of the Thunderbolts, which has been drafted by the Avengers to hunt down the members of the fugitive Secret Avengers and is currently run by the Commission for Superhuman Activities. It is then revealed that he has been outfitted with electrical implants by the government to keep the Symbiote in check. As a Thunderbolt, he is seen as a hero by the general public and has his own action figures. Gargan displays his new raw power as Venom in a battle with Jack Flag, after pummeling Flag for a bit, the hero manages to stab Gargan, who is protected by his Symbiote. Gargan becomes enraged and ferociously man-handles Flag, and is about to feast upon his flesh, when his electrical implants kick in and temporarily subdue him, allowing Flag to live. Gargan expresses fear of the control the Symbiote possesses over him, yet he has become addicted to the raw unearthly power it brings to him, and cannot begin to imagine life without it, similarly to a drug addict. Later, during an attack from Steel Spider and Sepulchre, Gargan loses control again, briefly becoming a huge monster once more, while Moonstone is incapacitated and thus cannot co-ordinate control of his electrical implants. Afterwards, however, he returns to a normal form with no ill effects. Then, he bites off, and devours, Steel Spider's arm during a fight. More recently, the venom Symbiote has seen to be reclaiming more and more control, and whilst Mac has showed remorse for his actions, the Symbiote has started to slowly twist Gargan into a more monstrous character. When Swordsman bombs Thunderbolts Mountain, Venom is seen to devour a security team. It is still to be seen whether this behavior is due to the manipulations Mindwave and his crew of recently caught unregistered heroes.
During the War Mac was used for the less savory missions, though he rejoiced in the freedom this offered him and has become even more addicted to the use of the Symbiote.
Personality :Before his first chemically aided transformation into the Scorpion Mac was a skilled private investigator, who knew how to keep a cool head, handle himself and with only three real vices, he liked a smoke and a drink and he hated to lose. The last of these, combined with an inability to detect the true identity of Spider-Man was what led him to his first transformation and the rage filled psychosis that followed. Now his cool head was replaced with a temper that can build to towering fits of rage. Though not a bad person in himself he was dumped firmly outside the law by his ‘super villain’ identity, short fuse and new violent temperament.
The way he sees it he is outside the law now and there is no real way back to the other side without serving jail time which he is to say the least unwilling to do. Then two more things happened, he became Venom and a Thunderbolt. The Symbiote chose its new host well, Mac has become massively addicted to the raw power offered by the adrenaline loving Symbiote which has in turn pushed and enhanced both Mac’s temper and his love of violence. The Thunderbolts then serve all his needs; it allows him to vent his need for violence, a method of controlling the blood mad rage of the Symbiote.

Brief Sample Roleplay Mac pawed at the floor of his cell with pale, clammy hands, he was jonesing for a fix as bad as the junkies he used to mine for info back when he had been just a PI. Dear lord that felt like a lifetime ago. But it wasn’t some drug he was craving, no, what he craved was already inside of him. Lurking in his gut, all through his body really, but the great cold mass of it seemed to sit in his belly like icy, molten lead. As he even turned his thoughts in that direction flashed of his last fight flashed though his head;
They leapt like a fish from the waves dodging gunfire as easily as a man dodges the clumsy punches of a child. They laughed in a terrible, powerful chorus of a voice, through teeth which would put a shark to shame, their mouth spreading far wider than any mammal was ever meant to open their jaw. Then they are amongst them, rending and tearing with a terrifying animalistic ferocity. Fingers like talons slash open the merely human flesh of their Hydra opponents, their over-long tongue lapping blood from their face...
With an effort he banishes the image, he wants it though; he wants the presence in his gut out of him. Not gone, just spread across his flesh like a new skin, flowing and melding across him. Giving him more; sweet, intoxicating power then he had ever dreamed possible. God he wanted it so much, more than anything, not that it didn’t scare him, this need, but the need was and always would be stronger than the fear. Fear of consequence couldn’t hold a candle to power like that.
Then like a voice from heaven the intercom crackled to life. The Director.
“Gargan, get ready we’re being deployed.” It was barely a thought, the Symbiote burst from him like an eruption, flowing from his mouth, nose, pores and every other orifice one cares to imagine, a beautiful geyser of liquid darkness. It covers him even as he rises to his feet, his jaw opening wide, then wider as he arches his back in silent ecstasy.
“Oh yes,” His sibilant tones returned to the intercom. “We’re ready.”
