Please remember, original characters may have only four powers.
-------------------------------------------------------------
Canon or your own: Blend of canon and mine cause there's so little known about him.
Copyright (Marvel/DC/etc): Marvel
Characters civilian name: John Allen Adams
Code names/Aliases: None - sometimes called 'Spook'
Class [Superhero, Vigilante, Mercenary..etc]: SHIELD
-------------------------------------------------------------
Gender: Male
Age: 45
Apparent Age: 40
Hair: Dark brown
Eyes: Grey
Height and weight: About 6', and around 260 - muscle and a little fat
Appearance:
John is a somewhat burly man, around six feet tall and about two hundred and sixty pounds. Some of that is muscle, but some comes from the semi-sedentary lifestyle he led before the government released the virus. Now since he moves around a lot he’s losing fat weight and gaining muscle. He’s still kind of a round fellow, with a round face, thick lips, and a somewhat wide mouth. He has straight eye brows, and strongly piercing, deep-set grey eyes. He has a short nose and his face is clean-shaven. He is an oddly handsome man, but depending on the look on his face he can either look warm and friendly or creepy and deadly. He has dark brown hair that’s a little shaggy in a bull cut.
John wears jeans when he’s relaxing at home, as well as solid color T-shirts in mainly white, black, and faded blue. Sometimes he’ll branch out and do an orange or brown thing, but it’s not common. When he’s at work he will either wear a suit or slacks and a button-down shirt, again solid color or plaid, (the man doesn’t do stripes though). He prefers more of the business casual to business look, and in truth has a sort of permanent casual look to him. He looks a little out of place in a suit.

Super Powers: Some call ESP a superpower - so I'll put that here. John’s greatest strength lies in his ESP, or extrasensory perception. He carries the full load of it - he is one of the few who do, (most only have one or two of the abilities). His strongest - and consequently his least favorite - Is clairvoyance, because while it gives him time to act, he often arrives at the scene too late to be able to do much. Clairvoyance is the ability to see things that are happening in the present, around the world or around at least to the limit of their person’s abilities. John has the ability to see others, not just those he’s close to.
John is precognitive, which unfortunately is his weakest one. It doesn’t strike too many times, and while it’s right when it does, it happens too infrequently for him to truly rely on it as an ability. He hates this because he really prefers to know what is going to happen before it does, but this ability is weaker to him.
John has retrocognition, which sometimes can make up for his low precognition. The ability to see things that have already happened help him figure out how he’s gotten to the point he has.
John is telepathic, only to the level that he can speak to and hear others’ thoughts as a communication. He can dig below the surface level to simply scan thoughts, but there are weaknesses to this - sometimes severe - and so he doesn’t read people’s minds too often. As it is, simply touching them usually activates one of his other cognitive powers, so he doesn’t really need to read their minds.
Learned Abilities:
John’s self-confidence and leadership skills (quick, clear thinking, charisma, listening abilities, strategic intelligence) make him a solid and dependable leader. He is trustworthy, loyal, and steadfast.
John is a strong man, able to hold his own in a physical fight, and enjoys boxing, and wrestling to keep himself in shape. This also makes him a somewhat formidable hand to hand fighter, though he’s more about power than speed and agility.
Equipment: John usually carries a briefcase with files in it, as well as a picture of his daughter, who is missing. Other things commonly found on his person include a Glock pistol with extra magazine, cell phone/Bluetooth, a pocketwatch, a deck of playing cards, and of course his wallet.
Weaknesses (Must Have):
John is susceptible to telepathic attack, though he can sense it coming and he can, to some degree, reject it and battle back.
He may be strong, but he is not the most in shape, so he can physically tire if he has to run for long periods of time.
His twelve year old daughter, Holly Adams, is missing, which frightens him to no end. She is the only family he has left, and he's unable to find her, (for some reason, his ESP won't work on her).
Background:
John was born in New York City to an Air Force father and a teaching mother. He grew up on various military bases around the United States, (though didn’t leave the country except for a couple vacations), quickly getting used to the concept of making friends for three years and then letting them go. This semi-nomadic life has instilled in him a constant need for change and moving around, which while he can’t move too much now, he does often change his office around much to the confusion of those working under him. The young John had a gift for debate, and could often argue a point to exhaustion or until someone agreed with him. This brought him the opinion of an annoying or arrogant boy who you really didn’t want to talk to, but John seemed fine as he got older with being alone. His teaching mother pushed his father into staying in one place long enough for John to finish high school, and then the family moved again, leaving John behind for college.
John’s ESP manifested at puberty, and at first he told absolutely no one about it, instead finding himself quite frightened at his sudden ability to know a lot more than he should about people, (for example, one of his first dates ended quickly because he picked up on a thought from the girl that she wanted to bed him fast as she had another date that night). This also enabled him to win a lot more debates as he could pick up on what some of the returning arguments could be and he would prepare for them. Captain of the debate team in high school won him some popularity and finally drew the attentions of a dark-haired Grecian beauty named Patricia. John’s ESP taught him a lot about her, including the fact that she came from an abusive family, (the father physically abused them and the mother emotionally abused Patricia). She was the first girl he trusted with the knowledge of his ESP, and she had no trouble accepting it and him for who he was. They fell in love, dated singularly through college, and married after graduation. Patricia’s father was put in jail after he beat her mother to death, and it was later discovered he committed suicide in his cell. John never revealed to Patricia that he knew about the suicide, (as it had come to him in one of his precognitive flashes).
John went to work with the government as a CIA operative, using his ESP to great advantage. He was later recruited into SHIELD by Nick Fury who placed him in the ESPer division. John rose quickly through those ranks as he was a solid and motivated leader, set on making the best life possible for his child Holly, (Patricia died in a car accident around the time Holly was six). Eventually, he was made leader of the ESPer division, and ran it smoothly and efficiently.
Personality :
To most who approach him, John is a no-nonsense and very serious man. As the head of the ESPer department of SHIELD, he has a lot to oversee and understand, and thus he sometimes tends to shut himself off alone while working. He wavers between authoritarian and democratic leadership, trusting very few, (but very well), and gives off a quiet aura of ‘don’t mess with me, I’m nice until you mess with me.’ To people he has worked with for a long time, he will actually smile and speak with some affection in his voice, but he is not really a joking man. To newbies he seems like an absolute hardass who shows a little compassion at times. He doesn’t take crap from people, nor does he hand it out. He says nothing he doesn’t mean, and everything he does. He is a quiet man, though he will interact with people and try to make them feel comfortable.
John is a dangerous man when angered. Far from exploding or striking anyone, his eyes spark as though lit by lightning, and his face turns (not literally) into a stone mask. When he gets into this mode, there is nothing that will stop him or stand in his way (for long at least). Icy determination and mulish stubbornness drive him to complete whatever mission he is on. He can and will strike someone if they push him, but usually it just takes a glare from those grey eyes to get someone to realize they are in really deep shit.
John has a lot of self-confidence and is sure of his mental capacities and leadership abilities. He questions himself sometimes, but never in front of his men. He sometimes considers the worst job he ever had as being a husband - as much as he loved his wife, he couldn’t balance her and work. But his best job, he thinks, was being a father, and his little Holly is the heart and soul of his life.

Brief Sample Roleplay
"Crazy is a matter of perception, Agent Romanova."
The voice issued from the darkness beyond the doorway to the kitchen, but it was soon followed by the casually dressed body of John Allen Adams, awake himself at three a.m. from a violent nightmare in which he found his daughter in four different places. His grey eyes held their customary serious spark, but a languid sleepiness lidded them a little and his commonly ruffly hair looked as though he'd tried to push his hands through it and failed. He wore faded blue jeans and a white T-shirt. Spectacularly uncaring about the casualness of his appearance near the two more sharply dressed SHIELD agents, he crossed over to see the coffee about a quarter full. John stared at it a moment and then shook his head and swung to the fridge. He pulled out a beer, popped it and downed half of the can in seconds.
Three a.m. was no time for formalities, however, and so he sat with the other two agents, looking at both of them as though just realizing they were actually there. He raised his beer can to both of them. "Miss Creed will be not only a useful addition, but a valuable ally. Perhaps even Agent Sitwell will see that." His eyes were mildly stern but he didn't criticize. It was true that there weren't many heroes that were able to help them, but bitterness destroyed hope, and there didn't need to be a complete loss of hope to SHIELD.
