Kitty Pryde watched Virgil carefully for flinching, which he did not do when her fingertips touched his arm. It still looked as if the man were playing off the pain, but Shadowcat had to give him some credit. It was obvious he could deal with pain. The young X-Man smiled a small grin as he began to speak until the expression was swept off their faces by a shattering scream, slicing the silence in half. Her head darted towards the exclamation, and turned back to Virgil. "We have to do something!" Kitty said with her hazel eyes wide. She immediately stood up from the bench and ran out into the middle of the street, leaning over, trying to get a good idea of where the scream came from.
"Well??" Of course, Kitty couldn't expect a completely normal, sane person to follow her into danger, but she could protect him. She just needed him around to get help, if the situation called for it. She pulled out her hairtie, allowing her brown hair to fall around her face. Where was that superhero when the town needed him? After retying her hair up, she beckoned the seated Virgil over to where she stood. "Come on! Someone may need our help!"

Virgil got up off of his seat, making sure to bring his backpack with him. He needed a way for Kitty and him to get separated so that he could go and change into Static. "Right!" he said, tuning his ears into the police radio network. At first he only got static, so he closed his eyes and tuned it with his mind until the news was crystal clear. There was a group of people attacking the station where the buses were supposed to be coming from. So that's what was happening... Virgil thought to himself, pretending to hear something in the direction where the buses were. "I think I heard it over this way, the bus depot-area!" Virgil said, heading towards that area in a run. Stopping and turning back at Kitty, he asked, "Coming?"
He looked ahead of them, and saw a giant crowd- the perfect kind of crowd to get separated from somebody in. This crowd seemed to be like some sort of angry mob, more of an angry mob against the crime of having buses or something like that. Virgil hated these kind of crowds, it seemed they had the right ideas, but never the right way to execute those ideas. He wished that some of the great protest leaders were still around, mainly because most of the violent protests needed to be stopped and replaced with non-violent protests.

Her hazel eyes widened as he hurried to Kitty, and past her even. He beckoned her to follow, and Shadowcat hastily trailed behind him. Suddenly, a giant group of people were in sight. Raising a brow curiously, Kitty observed the gigantic horde, trying to analyze the best way to handle the situation. Katherine Pryde was never the best at controlling the public, but she would have to try. She found a small crate next to the large bus station and stood upon it, waving her arms, calling attention to herself. "Hey, what's going on here?"
"Damn supers are taking over this city!"
"Yeah, supers are evil! Didn't you hear about the Untouchables??"
"The Untouchables are a league of super-nazis out to destroy all the people who aren't mutated!"
Kitty stood silently, listening with a dumbfounded expression. It appeared as if the phrase 'Uh wha?' was stamped onto her forehead in bold red lettering. The Untouchbles-- Super nazis? Wow, what a mob radiating a helluva lot of stupid. Kitty thought to herself as the shouts began to raise in volume and stampede towards the large wooden crate Kitty Pryde stood upon. Frightened, her eyes scanned the crowd for Virgil who was nowhere in sight. "Virgil! Hey!" She called loudly as she got shoved off her perch. She flipped and landed to her feet, but she knew she couldn't phase through the crowd-- she would be murdered.

"The untouchables are Super-nazis? Jee, you guys don't have really open minds do you?" a voice rang out from above the crowd. Virgil had managed to sneak away from Kitty and change into his superhero suit without anyone seeing him and now he floated above everyone else on his flying disk. The people were enraged by the superhero's appearance and immediately started to yell at him, calling him a "super-nazi" and other, more hurtful things. Static didn't seem to mind though for some reason, and flew down slightly, scanning the angry mob for signs of innocent, people who were hurt.
He saw a few bus workers and some innocents who had gotten in the mob's way and immediately felt a pang of guilt. Static wasn't doing his job right, or something because people were still getting hurt in Hal's city. He flew close to the ground in the back of the mob where an open street was, saying, "Okay, you've got a super here, come and get me!" Static wanted them to go after him because it would allow the good people to get themselves and the injured away from this unsafe area.
Static hoped that Kitty was all right as the mob got enraged, even more than they had been before. They started to move threateningly towards the young superhero, then attacked. Static knew when talking was over when several of them pulled out metal baseball bats and hammers and started to stun people. He hoped none of them were smart enough to make the connection between his powers and water. However, the young superhero was wrong as a smarter individual grabbed a hose that was nearby and started to drift towards the superhero. During Static's fight, the left sleeve of his coat got a cut where part of a bruise could be seen. The coloration of the bruise a long with the skin tone would point out to anyone that really knew him that it was Virgil under that mask. Static didn't want to be found out, so he hoped that Kitty didn't see what was under the cut sleeve of his jacket.

Kitty heard a very familiar voice as the hero from before rose above the crowd and called them to him. Her face turned upwards from her stance in the middle of the angry crowd. A thought struck her mind-- was that Virgil? Was he this super hero? The voice she had been chatting with for nearly half an hour matched this man's. A small, amused giggle escaped her lips as she watched him. Once the bigots cleared out to bring down the hero, Kitty found many sprawled upon the dirty concrete. Some were moaning in pain while others were completely out cold. Lowering herself to each person, she checked if they were okay. Most of them were responsive and nothing very serious. It was reassuring. She let out a sigh of relief.
After making sure people hurt were going to be okay, Kitty turned her hazel orbs to the hero distracting the angry horde of bigots. A worried expression veiled over Shadowcat's usually positive features. Something was going wrong. Kicking up her speed, Kitty sprinted over and through the crowd, dodging metal baseball bats and other assorted street weapons. One of the men began to spray the superhero with the water, and Kitty exchanged a glance with the hero before running to the man and sending a swift kick right into his face. "Need some help, Mr. Hero?" She joked as she looked up at him. Taking in a deep breath, she lightly placed her hand on the disk he magnetized, sending them transparent. Kitty kicked her legs and ran through the large crowd before they even knew what hit them-- or what didn't. Kitty stopped running about about a football field away to assess the situation before dropping her arm and bringing them back to regular physicality. Gazing upon the hero in a new light, she noticed his sleeve torn and-- the bruise. Kitty couldn't help but grin. "I knew there was something weird about you, Virgil." Shadowcat let out a laugh and pushed her brown bangs back.
But Shadowcat really needed to focus. She had been attacked once for her super powers, but now it's come here? The hate is moving too fast. What was going on?

Static immediately felt the water dampen him and began to panic, activating his powers that were currently short-circuiting slightly. He cursed in his head, aware that if he lost his powers he was as good as dead. However, before enough water was able to get on him the man holding the hose fell over unconcious. "I'd appreciate it," Static said with a smirk to Kitty's comment. He was worried about her sticking up in a fight that was only supposed to involve him- until something happened. Static closed his eyes and when he opened them they were about a football field length away from the angry mob. He hadn't felt a thing, and he highly doubted that they would have allowed a super to just go through a crowd untouched. The ability to go through objects, cool Static thought to himself.
However, the sense of ease from being out of the crowd stopped when Kitty told him indirectly that she knew his secret identity. "So you know, eh? Ah well, I'll live if one other person knows my identity," Static said, scratching the back of his head like Virgil always did. Static was looking a bit worse for wear at the moment. He was obviously tired, and there were a few developing bruises on him, a long with scratches on his face and his clothing from knives. As much as Virgil kidded himself about being an experienced superhero, he had only 4 years to his resume of hero-teering. "What was that all about? I mean, I've been attacked like this before, but this was totally random," Static said with a worried tone in his voice, trying to think. His electromagnetic energy was crackling as Static dried off, slowing coming back to life. The mob was still none the wiser and were looking only in the immediate alleyways for the two superhumans.

Kitty merely smiled when Virgil replied to her about his secret identity. "Yeah, you'll live." She said frankly. "The hero group I'm in-- we don't even have costumes, really." Kitty scratched her ear and shrugged, alluding to the fact that anyone with a brain could figure out Katherine Anne Pryde's identity with putting two and two together. It was pretty good timing that the young X-Man got into this town during the outbreak of idiocracy. That guy would have a lot of trouble on his shoulders had he been alone. Her hazel eyes turned to the group of people and back at Virgil to answer his question.
"I don't know a lot about it, seeing as how the X-Men haven't really been keeping in touch," Kitty replied, half of her voice slightly annoyed due to the fact that she hadn't been enlightened by her comrades. "Did you, by any chance, take part in the War?" She questioned curiously. It would make sense if Virgil had been with the Untouchables. He'd be a direct target-- but then again, even people like Kitty were being attacked as well like she had in the park in New York. The whole situation just made Kitty want to beat up some baddies.
One of the people in the group turned their way, and Kitty immediately grabbed Virgil's arm and turned transparent. Once the person shrugged off their suspicion, Kitty let out a sigh. "Sorry about that." She remarked with a laugh. "It's a habit."

"You guys don't? It's kind of needed where I live. Supervillains won't hesitate to use your secret identity against you, and anyone closest to you," Static said with a calm smile on his face. He needed his secret identity to protect his family, especially when he was dealing with bang babies in his normal neighborhood. Static could imagine Hotstreak doing cruel, inhumane things to his family and friends if he found out Static was Virgil Hawkins. The reason why he wasn't freaking out right now was because of his personality and the fact that even though they had only met just a few minutes ago he trusted her. It was pure luck that they had met right before his near certain death at the hands of an angry mob. An angry mob his eyes were constantly darting towards just because he wanted to be ready if they actually looked to where the two supers were.
"Yea, hated every minute of it," Static said, remembering when he'd been drafted to serve in the war. He honestly had tried to forget about the things that he had done during the war, but it was a futile task and he still remembered what section he was in. "So they're attacking people who were in the war, the untouchables?" Static said, bringing up the name that he was called by the people he protected and even his friends and family. He honestly wanted to go back and trash that letter he'd had gotten at his home, demanding his assistance in the war. Static hated that war, mainly because of the disappearance of his super-intelligent friend Gear. He was brought out of his thinking when Kitty turned them both transparent. "Oh no problem, being turned transperant is a lot more preferable to being chased after by a mob for the next several hours," Static said joking with an exaggerated sigh.

Kitty shrugged to Virgil's comment about the said secret identity. "I really have nothing to worry about." She said frankly, thinking about how her home was at Professor Xavier's. Everyone could protect themselves there. Virgil must have meant living in a regular house, and coming home to dinner every night after a hard day of hero-ing. That whole image confused the young X-Man. How would anyone be able to function that way, especially if no one knew who they were? It'd be exceptionally challenging, she believed. Yeah, juggling your two identities. She thought to herself as her hazel gaze rested on Virgil's frame. No wonder this guy has so many issues with his costume. Luckily enough he hadn't flipped out on her, knowing his identity at all. Hm, at least he likes her well enough.
Her ears tuned into Virgil's voice as he spoke about the war. Kitty wondered why he had signed up for it if he didn't like it at all. After a second of thought, perhaps the man hadn't signed up-- Kitty had vaguely heard of drafts breaking out in certain areas. Was Virgil a victim of the drafts? Shadowcat let out a small sigh. "They're looking for the Untouchables," the young X-Man began, looking over to the mob. They continued to shout in a complete anger. Why were they so angry? "But they're basically going after any supers they find." She muttered as she crossed her arms across her chest. Yet, despite her distracting thoughts, Kitty couldn't help but smile at the man's humor towards her phasing. "I agree." She replied as she took a step closer to him. "So, should we get going? Maybe we should meet up with someone to help fix this situation." Her voice became hushed as if she were pulling her words back into her throat. "It's obviously not safe here."

"You're lucky," Virgil said with a calm smile, noting how she probably was on some sort of force that protected her from villains attacking her parents or her friends. He wondered what it was like to live like that, not constantly fretting that someone had discovered his secret identity. "This would be a lot simpler" Virgil thought to himself, giving a small audible sigh.
He wondered why he hadn't flipped out about her knowing his secret identity. As the people who knew his secret identity increased so did the chances of one person betraying him to a person like Hotstreak or worse...Ebon. Virgil didn't think this woman was like that, so he pushed back those traumatizing and terrible ideas of the consequences for his family and friends.
Virgil had been a victim of the drafts...Gear also had been recruited. They both had been hesitant about joining the untouchables, but they were drafted so they had no choice in the matter. Virgil shook the ideas about what might have happened to his best friend out of his head, the only remnant was the sadness in his eyes. This was replaced when the crowd's shouts became louder to him.
"They're looking for the untouchables," Virgil repeated to himself, looking over at the crowd and nodding his head at her suggestion that was dangerous to remain there. "Yea, let's go," he said, the disk that had landed on the ground with Static still on it popping quietly with electromagnetic electricity as it lifted off the ground slightly. "Trust me? I'm a good driver and there's enough room," Virgil said with a small laugh, moving back slightly as he waited for Kitty to accept the free ride on his flying disk. He had carried other people before and they were still in one piece, plus public transportation was probably stopped for the night at least due to the anti-superhero riots.

"They're looking for the Untouchables."
Kitty nodded to him, though he had been speaking to himself. The whole thought was extremely intimidating. Shadowcat wasn't even in the war, yet she found herself finding regular human beings as one of the most threatening thing on the planet. Seeing Virgil's face drop when Kitty brought up the war, something must have happened. Perhaps a loved one or a good friend was lost. Wincing only slightly, Katherine Pryde thought of Professor Xavier and his death and how she dealt with it. She cried; and cried a lot. Maybe Kitty and Virgil could understand each other in those ways.
As Virgil's disk began to hover, Shadowcat blinked. "That's pretty cool. She said, letting out a laugh at his statement. "Don't worry, I trust you." She hesitated though-- how does she get on it? Kitty raised a brow and bit her lip animatedly as she lifted her left leg onto the disk and placed her whole weight onto it. It wiggled slightly, but it carried her. Curiously, Kitty straightened her legs to see if she could keep her balance, and suddenly someone saw her.
"Hey, it's the super!"
"Dangit!" Kitty exclaimed with wide eyes. "Way to go, Kat!" She said to herself with a mental smack on the forehead. Now was definitely the time to get going.

"Hey! It's the super!" At those words, and the words that Kitty said after, the mob started to sprint towards the two. Virgil lifted the disk high into the air, grabbing Kitty's hand in order to keep her steady on his flying disk. "Sorry, just need to keep you from falling off," he quickly said to Kitty, looking down at the crowd, noticing a few of them had guns. Bullets started to fly, Static forming a shield that bounced most bullets off of it, though some of them got through. One of these bullets ripped past Static's coat, giving it another cut, as well as burn to go a long with it. A few more bullets whizzed past, one giving him a nick on the head. They were soon out of the danger zone, though, and just continued flying in the air. Blood dripped down from his head to his chin as he looked at Kitty and asked, "Where do we go? Is there a refugee camp or something like that where it's safe for us?" He looked down below, going a bit higher in order to hide their prescence better from the mobs that seemed to be appearing all over the town. "Hal's not gonna like this..." he said with a sigh, turning off the forcefield in order to provide some more energy to his flying.

Hazel eyes widened dramatically as she felt herself quickly lose balance. She prepared to phase through anything she would fall into until a gentle grab onto her hand steadied her. Letting out a sigh of relief, she turned her head over her shoulder and replied, "Thank you. I'd probably be ripped apart by angry airheads if I fell." But immediately the young X-Man ate her words when bullets were fired. She regretted letting her guard down once Virgil pulled up the shield since a few of the several shells fired pierced it, grazing Virgil's arms and head. Fortunately, none of the bullets had struck her, but as she turned to look at her friend, blood had streamed down his face. "I'm not too sure," Kitty replied honestly. "The only safe place I know is the school..." She said more to herself than anything. She was sure that Virgil would be welcome with open arms-- protected and healed. None of them were like the men and women who were on the ground, still shooting in random directions and screaming phrases that eventually faded in the air.
The city shrunk smaller and smaller as Virgil rose the flying disk and Kitty began to feel safe. Letting out the breath she evidently had been keeping in through the tension, her hazel eyes watched the city turn into a vague countryside. She told him with a solid, confident voice that he should start heading over to New York, though she wasn't as sure of herself as it seemed. "Hal will survive." Kitty said with a grin as she gripped his right, unbruised arm in case he felt faint. "Now, let's go!"

(OOC: Do you want to start a new thread in the Xavier's school part?)
Virgil felt blood on his face, and ignored it, keeping his attention focused on the flying as he lowered their height a bit. They were pretty much out of danger so it was safe to do this, plus it conserved energy. "Your school?" Virgil replied, making sure he'd heard correctly. The thought that he had heard wrong was erased when he heard her tell him to make their direction New York. Virgil had heard of a school over there that was for mutants, and thought to himself "That must have been the school she was talking about." He wondered what he'd do once he got there. Virgil didn't want to overstay his welcome, so he'd probably just stay there enough to take care of his injuries and then leave to check on things in Dakota. It could be a deathwish to try and fly over to Dakota, though.
The mental battle between staying at the school until it was safe to go, or just recklessly going right after he'd dropped Kitty stayed on as they flew. He was brought out of his thoughts by Kitty responding to his comment about Hal. "Yea," Virgil agreed to Kitty's comment about how Hal would survive his city being a bit reckless for a few days. He increased the speed a bit as they flew through the air and towards New York. It took a few hours to get there, but thankfully they got to the Xavier's Mansion unharmed. Virgil's power, however, was very fatigued by the long journey, and the disk became very shaky right before they landed right in front of the gates.
