Static knew it wasn't good, but slightly cool when Hal Jordan had asked him to take over Coast City while he, himself went out on a solo mission. Static was now stuck doing patrols because he owed the Green Lantern a favor from the help defeating Hotstreak a couple of weeks ago. He let his thoughts wander over to his current situation family and living-wise. Static wouldn't have been able to do what he was doing now if he was younger for sure. The Electromagnetic superhero was glad that now he was living by himself, it gave him a lot more freedom than when he had been living with his father and older sister, Sharon.
"Just a couple of more blocks, a roundabout to make sure there aren't any gangsters thinking their lucky enough to beat anyone without a zap from me, and I'll be finished for today!" Static said out loud with a grin on his face, his board wavering for a second from the lack of concentration, but stabilizing. People were looking up at the Superhero, not used to seeing him at all unlike the Green Lantern. Static mainly ignored it, turning another corner and lifting up his board enough so that he could see more. All during this time Static had his ears tuned into the police radio, listening for any signs of trouble.

No one would really see her. Kitty Pryde had taken a plane to Coast City, and with a smile, let out a large yawn as she stepped out from the airport. Man, was traveling a hassle. Kitty casually scratched her head and watched some of the natives go by. It wasn't a the largest city, but it still was a pretty big one. Wearing a simple t-shirt and jeans, a taxi drove by-- nearly splashing Kitty soaked. Luckily she phased through it just in time. Oh, how it would have felt horrible to have to hail a slightly more polite taxi when one was soaked.
"Oh, come on!" The young X-Man called to the many vehicles on the night street. Her arms waved wildly in order to catch one of the bright yellow ones; however, they were either taken or plainly ignoring a possible customer. Kitty sighed. She lifted her arms and tightened her hair before contemplating walking in the middle of the street to get a taxi to get to her hotel to get to her bed. Instead, the girl simply sat on a nearby bench, awaiting someone to stop before her.

A guy's yell echoed in the dark night, this certain man was running- a woman's purse clutched in his greedy grasp. He'd expected Green Lantern to come, he knew Green Lantern's moves and perhaps could get away. What he hadn't expected was a younger, more confident, slightly less kind Superhero to come to the woman's rescue. The man passed a woman on the bench and ran two more steps before being caught on the back of the shirt by the older teenage-looking Superhero.
"Hey, when I tell you to stop, stop!" Static said in a slightly annoyed tone. He had been chasing this guy for blocks after he had seen him take the woman's purse. Honestly, he thought this guy was an Olympic champion at least for being able to run that length so quickly. "Hand it over, it's not your's- it's the woman's," Static said, extending his hand. He didn't want to hurt the gangster, but if the gangster set off a fight he would have to finish it by knocking him out. During his time, Static was still on his flying disk, crouched down so he could see eye to eye with the man. The man handed the purse to Static before breaking himself free of his grasp and running, the superhero giving a sigh. "Geez, almost as bad as Dakota, I swear..." Static said, turning around and handing the purse to the woman- who had followed to the best of her ability. The woman quickly left without a word of thanks to the man who had gotten her purse back for her.
Static thought that sitting down would be best right now, he was tired from all of the running. He sat down, folding up his flying disk and putting it in his coat. "H-Hey!" Static said, sort of jumping when he noticed that there was a girl sitting next to him. He didn't like suprises, not from bang-babies nor ordinary people. "Oh sorry," he quickly apologized, "I didn't notice you were sitting there." Static was sweating a bit, but just wiped the very small amount of sweat on the sleeve of his coat.

When the sound of a yell was heard, Shadowcat's ears seemed to twitch to the sound, only because she was trained to always be prepared. Kitty sat up abruptly and shot glances around, but immediately told herself to sit down. Today was her day to relax. No one needed her this time. Plus, was she really anything without her team? Kitty pondered for a moment, bringing her knuckle to her teeth. Was she actually as powerful as she believed? What her teammates believed? What her enemies believed? Suddenly, Katherine became worried. Hopefully someone would come to the rescue in this town. If no one did, well, she would eventually pick up the slack; it was her responsibility as an X-Man. Exhaustedly, Kitty dropped her face into her hands and rubbed it lightly. She winced and felt as if she could pass out any moment. Drained would be her middle name had it not been Anne.
The young woman's head shot up again at another voice. So there was someone here to help crime? Kitty merely raised a brow at the voice; however, her mind was analyzing it, hoping to expect the person that would be running around the corner. Suddenly, she saw a tall man jetting his way past pedestrians with a flower-printed purse clutched under his left arm. Her jaw clenched, and she flexed her arms in anticipation as the man made his way to the bench Kitty sat on. Behind the escaping robber, a teenager on a giant, metal disk flew by and quickly retrieved the man and the purse.
Wow, Shadowcat thought to herself. He got the guy fast. Kitty carefully observed the young man as he returned the purse to the woman. He was well built, and he had an odd hair style for the hero occupation. She smiled to the back of his head as the woman thanked him. It was refreshing to see a new crime-fighter. Oddly enough, the stranger sat down on the bench right next to her. Kitty raised a brow to the young man.
Kitty's hazel eyes widened at his sudden outburst. "Oh, it's fine." Shadowcat replied, smiling weakly and tiredly to the hero. "Nice work you did, there." Kitty added honestly. She scratched her right ear and sighed. Hopefully she could hail a taxi, soon.

"Thanks," Static thanked soon adding in with a sigh, "I have to go, sorry. I never seem to get a break, especially tonight," Static said with a smile. His left arm was hurting badly, some lucky punk had managed to strike him with something hard and heavy there. Now a bruise from his shoulder to his elbow that was thankfully covered by his coat, was the only evidence of what he had done tonight. Static stated with a hint of worry, "You should be getting home soon, fall asleep on the streets and you don't want to know what will happen."
He flipped open his flying disk and got on it, sailing off into the sky. Static, however, landed pretty near to the bus stop where Shadowcat was, and also where his backpack was. Static found a public restroom that looked like it hadn't been used-or cleaned, since the 1930s and went inside, changing from Static to Virgil by changing his clothes and stuffing his hair under an orange hat. He exited, his backpack slung over one shoulder and a normal teenage grin on his face. Virgil was wearing baggy khaki pants and a T-shirt with a jacket ontop of it. He walked over to the bustop where Kitty was, hoping to everything in the world that she didn't reconize him. Virgil tried to call over a bus, but the only answer to his calling was nearly getting splashed twice.

"I'm stuck here until I can grab a car." The young X-Man said bluntly, letting out a yawn. "But thanks for your concern." Kitty watched him as the young man made his leave. Katherine blinked. The new hero sat next to Kitty for only a mere few moments before he had said his goodbyes and was off. Kitty adverted her gaze back to the glossy road before her, and she dropped her chin into her palms. Kitty didn't even get the young man's name.
Running a few fingers through her limp bangs, Kitty let out a small, bored sigh. It felt like hours she had been waiting for some form of public transportation, only to be replied to with the sounds of car horns going off every so often. Kitty was actually somewhat thankful for that fast-- perhaps it would keep her from falling asleep on the bench. It wasn't until she had nearly lost consciousness when she saw someone else approach the bus stop. Kitty didn't turn to the stranger, in case her gaze were to make him feel uncomfortable.

Virgil tried called out for a taxi several more times before finally giving up. "Today's not my lucky day," he said, giving a sigh as he waited for a taxi not to ignore him. Virgil leaned up against a nearby pole, just waiting. If he hadn't cared about keeping his superhero identity and his personal identity separate he could have just brought out his disk and fly off to his hotel, but he cared and so he didn't. So, he was forced to wait for a taxi that probably wouldn't come.
Virgil knew he would look suspicious if he didn't say anything and just stood there like a brute so he lightened his face up. He was pretty sure the woman hadn't gotten a good look at his face, hopefully not good enough of a look to distinguish between the person who she had seen earlier and the man she was seeing now. "Hello," Virgil said to the woman, putting a friendly expression on his face.

The teen had to admit that it appeared as if every city had its quirks. It was interesting, seeing the different kind of heroes each town possessed. And in Coast City, that hero had been very blunt and clumsy, almost. But it was intriguing. As her hazel gaze drifted to the somewhat deserted street, the girl raised a brow boredly as a red, plastic cup swiftly flew by, creating loud, distracting noises as it went. Kitty gazed at her watch-- it was getting late. If someone hadn't stopped by soon, she was going to walk.
Turning her head at a voice she could have sworn she heard before, Kitty looked up from the watery road seeing a man that appeared strikingly familiar. From the looks of it, he could have been anyone that had walked by her since she arrived in Coast City. The young man sat down beside her. Kitty double-took. She knew she'd seen this man before-- unless it was a matter of massive deja vu. Her thoughts zipped from her mind when he addressed her.
"Oh, hello." Kitty said with a smile, hoping that she sounded friendly. Maybe this native knew how to pick up some transportation.

Virgil was getting concerned slightly, he didn't like walking home at night, but would have too if a taxi didn't stop. It was also getting a bit colder than he liked, and he was instantly reminded of a girl that he'd helped a while back who had made Dakota suffer a really bad blizzard. Virgil shook his head of those thoughts and found that he was sitting on the same part of the bench that he had before, although in a different position- a more relaxed one.
Virgil noticed that the woman was looking at him and hoped that she wouldn't recognize him even more now that they were sitting on the same bench. He looked at her when she said hello and gave a goofy grin, "How are you? Waiting for transportation too? They're really slow tonight it seems." Virgil moved his arm with the bruise on it and gave a noticeable wince. He relaxed his arm on his land, his hand over his knee.

Curious hazel eyes watched the man's brown ones as he spoke. He was very casual. It was nice having someone to talk to in order to kill the wait; Shadowcat began to worry if a taxi or bus would ever drive by. "I'm doing okay," She began as her hand reached for the navy hairtie that held her chocolate locks up. "I've never seen a bus forget to do its job, to tell you the truth." Honestly she muttered, a bit concerned. Perhaps something happened to the bus? Kitty raised both brows as she watched the man bite back his pain. Having seen that expression many times, Kitty frowned and turned her sight back to the man next to her. "Are you alright?" That expression was engraved in her memory. So many of her teammates showed the unexpressed pain through one thing-- their eyes.

Virgil was glad he could actually speak to this woman this time. He had been so concerned in his costume that she would perhaps see too much, engrave too much of his apperance into her memory. By "too much" Virgil meant enough for her to tell who he was behind his mask. "That's good, oh I'm Virgil by the way, what's your name?" Virgil introduced himself and asked her her name. He could feel his shyness around women coming up and bit it back, trying to keep his outgoing facade.
"Happens a lot in this city it seems," Virgil responded, kind of suspicious himself of the no buses in this area. Usually the buses were pretty good, few tardies, almost no absences. It wasn't a serious situation as far as the young superhero could tell so he didn't go rushing off to go gallivanting as Static. Virgil could feel major throbbing coming from his wound, but just waved it off with his right hand, not moving his left at all. "I'm fine," he said, putting on the most truthful mask that he could think of.

Overall, Kitty became concerned. No buses-- it wasn't that late. Luckily someone was with her though, keeping her from killing herself from boredom. "Hello, Virgil." Kitty said with a smile as she held her hand out for him to shake. "I'm Kitty." Her hand lingered for a moment, hoping the man would take her gesture in greeting. There was still a thought hanging in the back of her mind about the buses. As much as she knew, people would start riots if the buses in New York were late. Sending one last suspicious glance to the street, she turned back to this acquaintance.
Once Virgil attempted to play off the wave of pain in his left arm, Kitty sent him a dubious look. "Yeah, right. Let me see." The young woman said, shifting her position on the bench so she straddled it and faced Virgil directly. It must be somewhere on his left side, due to the less fluid-like motion on that side. Kitty let out a frown. "Please?" Maybe the crime in this city was a lot worse than she had anticipated.

"Good to meet you, Kitty," Virgil responded, shaking her hand. He, too, was concerned about the buses being late, getting more and more suspicious that something else was going on. With a lightswitch in his mind going off, Virgil tuned his ears into the police station, listening for anything about buses. Obviously the police hadn't heard of anything, after Static's busy day there was nothing other than a Jaywalker and a petty theft on the other side of town. Virgil shut off the transmission right when Kitty was asking about his hurt arm.
"Erm..well..." Virgil responded, putting his hand that had been shaking Kitty's down. "Okay," he finally agreed, she hadn't seen the wound, he was pretty sure, through their brief encounter so it wouldn't hurt to show her. Virgil took off his jacket, exposing the huge bruise that spread from his shoulder to the elbow. It was a very deep bruise, and it had been painful when he had got it for sure. To show her the full length of it, he rolled up that part of his sleeve. "Nothing, really," Virgil said with a small laugh, although it was obvious that he was just covering up the pain.

ooc| Sorry for how long I've taken to post. Kitty's been clogging up my brain, for a bit!
The young X-Man happily shook the man's hand, conscious of not moving it too much to hurt his left side. She smiled kindly, tilting her head in a fashion as if she were trying to read his expression, seeing nothing but suspicion. Had it been about the buses? So maybe it wasn't so different there, after all. Her eyes darted from both sides of the road. It seemed so desolate. If Kitty dwelt on it any longer, then she'd have to go investigate.
As Virgil dropped his hand, Kitty did the same by placing her hand on her thigh that straddled the bench. She observed him intently as he slid off his jacket and rolled up his sleeve. Kitty could barely hold back the 'ouch' that threatened to escape her lips. "Yeah, that is not nothing." She said with a small smirk as she gazed back up at Virgil who attempted to hide the hurt. With light fingertips, Kitty softly placed her fingertips on the bruise. Quickly after, she retracted her hand, afraid it'd be too much pressure. "Are you sure you're okay?"

Virgil looked at Kitty, noticing how she was darting her eyes over at the road. She probably suspects something's wrong too...I'll have to change and investigate once I'm out of here, Virgil decided, although he was pretty sure it was just traffic down the road or something like that. He could never be certain of what was going on, whether it was supervillain or just an idiot driver in this city. It was so much easier in Dakota, the bang babies were mostly show off so it was easy to tell what was just an accident and what was an attack. He let his thoughts wander for a moment before bringing his mind back for her reaction to his bruise.
Virgil felt her fingertips on his black, blue, and slightly yellowish bruise, but didn't retract his arm. He had felt worse than a bit of too much pressure on a bruise many times, and didn't want to appear rude. Virgil nodded, saying with a smile, "Yea, no problem for me. I mean-" His words were cut off as a scream echoed from where the buses usually were. More screams were heard and this made Virgil get up out of his seat. He wanted to change into Static and see what was going on, but it would be suspicious to do so. "What was that?" he asked, looking at Kitty, it was no longer a question if something weird was going on- something weird was.
