(OOC: If I need to edit anything for ya just lemme know ) Michael Watz was unfamiliar with the town of Gotham City, but he managed to find his way around without much difficulty. Today he chose not to take his limo, and rode his BMW K1 motorcycle instead. The majority of the bike was black, with a bit of green trim, and 'K1' in green on the sides. He was dressed in a black leather jacket, black and dark green high-tops, a dark green long-sleeved shirt, black jeans, and of course a motorcycle helmet that matched his bike perfectly. His long silver hair whipped around in the wind as he sped down the road toward the asylum. You might be wondering: What's a teen like Mike doing in Gotham when he has business to take care of in NYC and Louisiana? The answer is rather simple. His company lawyer retired two days ago, and that meant Michael needed find Watz Tech a new attorney to represent them. He had been doing some research online, and found a little file on a young woman named Cassandra Darcy. From what he had read she was an exceptional lawyer--just what he needed for his company. Mike parked his motorcycle once he reached Arkham, and then took off his helmet. He placed it on his bike after he flipped the kick-stand down. He rose up off of the bike, and then walked to the entrance of the building. Michael approached a fellow at the front desk, a small grin on his face, and then said: "I'm looking for Ms. Cassandra Darcy, can you tell me if she's in?" "Name?" The man asked. "Michael Watz." The young man replied as he handed the fellow a business card. The man looked at the card, and then to Mike again. He then pointed to his left as he spoke once more. "Over there."Echo glanced over into the next room, and then back to the man at the counter. "Thanks." He said kindly before walking toward a golden-brown haired woman. "Pardon me. Ms. Darcy?" He asked as he came up behind her.

Ah, Arkham. Cass looked around the dank and dirty room and smiled. She pulled her hair back from her face into a tight ponytail and continued to review cases. She still had plenty of time before she would have to go into the back room to investigate her latest experiment, and she intended to use all that time she could on Dean Matthews. Personally, this was one criminal she was more than looking forward to getting off on an insanity plea. She had such plans for him Anyone sick enough to be a pedophiliac rapist had to have something in their psyche that was positively joygasmic to learn. So she was working extra hard on him now.
So when the tiny voice piped up behind her, it broke her concentration. A little aggravated she turned around to glare at the interruption...and wound up looking down at a young man who exuded confidence. He had to be no older than eighteen, if even that, and he had a glint in his eye that suggested he wasn't about to be put off so easily. He was also very affable-sounding, which somewhat confused the older lawyer. Turning from her files, she regarded him carefully. "Yes, I'm Miss Darcy?"

(OOC: She looked down at him? Really? He's 6 inches taller than her. He's seventeen, not seven XP)
Michael's grin grew a bit when the woman turned around. ~Great God in Heaven...you really outdid yourself with this one.~ He thought to himself as he stared at the lovely woman. "Pleasure to meet you, miss. My name is Mike Watz." He said as he extended his hand in greeting. "And I'm here to offer you a job." He stated bluntly.

Cass smiled and shook his hand up to the point he said he was offering her a job. She released his hand and regarded him seriously. A job offer should never be turned down outright, but she already had a job, working here in Arkham Asylum. And it was a job that was full of possibility and just the right blend of - mental state - for her.
"And what kind of a job is that?" she asked, the first of many questions in her mind.

"My company lawyer just recently retired to Death Valley, literally. I know it sounds like a metaphor, but it's not." Michael said with a grin. "So, that means I'm in need of a new one. I've been doing some research to find just the right person for the job, and my research has brought me here to you. So, basically Ms. Darcy, I'm here ask you if you would be interested in coming with me to New York as my company attorney." Mr. Watz said in his usual somewhat upbeat tone, his grin unfading. He hoped that this woman wouldn't just turn him down, but at the same time he didn't want her to accept right away. If she accepted without so much as a few questions that meant that she was a "jumper"--one who leaps before they think.

Cass's first response was no. Very loud, very clear, very definitive. She was a Gotham City D.A, and she knew this city in and out. She could live here with no troubles - or hardly any - and the city didn't ask her about her methods or scrutinize her cases. She was safe and protected and able to learn new things at every turn without hardly being stopped.
But truth be told, her curiosity was aroused. New York. She knew the city, had heard of it. Superheroes lived there, like Peter Parker and Tony Stark. It was a New Place, full of New Things for her to learn and explore. Except she was fairly sure New York was nothing like Gotham City. There would be Rules there, and Cass wasn't sure how well she would do with rules.
"There are several capable attorneys here in Gotham who could help you, Mr. Watz," she said. "I am not the best. Rachel Dawes is."
Even as she said that however, she began to think some more. Maybe she wouldn't have to live in New York. Maybe she could live in Gotham and commute or work by vidcon or telephone. She would have to limit her cases here though, and she didn't like that.
"What would the role of the company attorney be, Mr. Watz?" she asked. Would she be helping in copyright cases, bankruptcies, patents? Or was there something more?

"My company happens to make a variety of weapons, some of which are extremely dangerous. Some times that gets us in trouble, lawsuit kind of trouble." Michael started to explain. "That would be one of your main duties. But as company lawyer you'd also serve as an attorney to my employees if any of them are involved in a work-related lawsuit. There is of course the matter of rights, and etcetera. But..." He paused briefly. "There's also the matter of contracts, I was hoping to line up some government deals, but that's a bit hard to accomplish without an attorney." He said with a small crooked grin. "Now, as far as pay goes...name your price."

A quick little salesman, this young man was. Cass was interested, always an important and something a very dangerous thing. But there were still some things she considered of utmost importance - namely her work at Arkham. And that was the main reason she still wasn't sold. "Mr. Watz, your offer is tempting," she said. "I, however, try several cases a month and specialize in the insane. I am not sure my best skills will be used as your attorney and I'm convinced you would want nothing but the best." It wasn't a flat refusal, but she was telling him he hadn't told her what she wanted to hear yet. Truth be told, she wasn't sure he would tell her, which was quite all right. But she couldn't leave Arkham behind. Not yet. Not when there were still so many interesting people to explore. But a new city! The possibilities made her breathless.

"Listen, I know about your...intrigue with the insane." Michael said as he slipped a hand into his pocket. "But, Gotham is not the only city with madman. I want you, Ms. Darcy. You're unique, and I like unique. Come with me to New York, and I'll arrange it to where you never grow bored." A slightly impish smirk came upon his face. "I have many connections, Ms. Darcy. Connections I'm not afraid to abuse, at times. If you wish to spend your free time in an asylum, then I can arrange that. I could even get you your own private mad house if you want."

Enticing. Very much so. Now the little seventeen year old had her attention, to the point that she took her hands from the files and looked him fully in the eyes. He was now admitting to shady deals in order to get her into New York City. She wondered, vaguely, what Chase Parker would say about this, and to her surprise actually heard his voice in her head, telling her to do what she thought was right. They hadn't been living together that long and yet she was already anticipating his words. She wasn't sure if that troubled her or not.
What did trouble her, however, was Watz's words about him knowing about her little intrigue. That came as dear and sweet fear to her. She wrapped her investigations and experiments in silence - not even the inmates dared speak of them. And that was the source of her power - the fact that everyone knew but no one dared move against her. Because this was Gotham. New York was a city with rules and regulations. And far too close to Metropolis, wherein lay Superman, the ultimate do-gooder.
"Here's my offer to you, Mr. Watz," she said. "I will divide my time between Arkham and your company. I will cut back on the amount of cases I take here, but I will only be able to take a certain amount of cases for you. I will remain here in Gotham, and you will call me when you need me. As for pay, I want sixty thousand a year." That was only a little - five thousand - more than she was making now, but if she was going to take on extra work she deserved more.

Michael's grin grew as Ms. Darcy spoke. He wasn't fully satisfied with her offer, so he thought he'd try to bargain with her a little. "Come with me to NYC and I'll double that salary." He said with a hint of glee.

Cass narrowed her eyes now and thought about her next words. Her first instinct had been to say take what you can get, little boy, but then figured saying that to a man who could be her potential boss would be a bad idea.
She didn't want to leave Gotham. But as she thought about it, she wondered if she couldn't try visiting New York. See what it was like before she made her decision. This boy obviously really wanted her there, so why not go for broke and see if he would finance her to visit before she made her decision? The arraignment for Matthews was still a week away, and since she was pleading not guilty she would have about three weeks after that to get ready for trial. It was now or never.
"Trial run," she said. "Give me a trial run in New York to see how things go. If I can balance, I will reconsider your offer."

And that was it. Michael thought for sure that he had her. Wine and dine her, give her a grand place to stay, razzle-dazzle her a bit and she would be signing a contract by the end of the week. "Sounds good to me. How about we head over there tomorrow afternoon?" He said kindly as he took his hand out of his pocket.

Cass nodded. She would have to tell Chase - warn him. They hadn't been together all that long; she wondered what he would say. "Tomorrow afternoon, I'll meet you at the bridge."

Michael was pretty pleased with himself. He had managed to get this woman to agree to coming with him to New York, even though at first she was rather against the idea. All he had to do was meet her at the bridge tomorrow afternoon. "Excellent. Two PM. I'll see you there." He said with a smile before he turned around and headed out the door.
(OOC: New topic at the bridge, or in NYC?)
