It has been mere weeks since Tony Stark has announced to the entire world that he is Iron Man, days since he approached General Ross about the Avengers Initiative.
Bruce Banner is still at large, currently residing in Bella Coola, British Columbia, unbeknownst to the government.
A year ago, it was discovered that the so-called "cure" that repressed the mutant gene was merely temporary, and all of the mutants that took the "cure" have regained their powers. Professor Xavier has been found again, having transferred his mind from his own body (which was destroyed), into the body of his comatose twin brother, whom previously had no consciousness.
Spider-Man is currently enjoying his current status of 'superhero celebrity' (despite the Daily Bugle still posting negative articles on him), and his alter ego, Peter Parker, is enjoying a relationship with Mary Jane Watson.
It has also been a year since the Fantastic Four, allied with the Silver Surfer, defeated Galactus. The Silver Surfer is still missing.
Daredevil remains Hell's Kitchen's protector and is still at odds with Wilson Fisk, the Kingpin. Bullseye is also well on his way to being as good as new, and Elektra has been revived by the sensei, Stick.
The Punisher continues his war on crime, Blade continues his on vampires, and Ghost Rider remains devoted to doing all in his power to fight against Mephistopheles and all harm that comes to the innocent.
And what do all these signs that suggest people who were killed are not as dead as previously thought mean?
