The young woman smiled as she saw her cousin walk inside the house with her boss. She wondered how exactly she must have been feeling, how excited she must Gwen was focused digging through the ice-filled cooler searching for a Coca Cola. Gwen rarely ever drank carbonated drinks, so when she finally found the soda, her heart leaped. Muttering a cheer underneath her breath, she pulled it out and immediately pulled the pop-tab. A quaint mist emitted from the cool drink and Gwen took a sip.
When Mackenzie called her, Gwen turned around and blinked. "Oh yeah, sure, Mack." Shockwave said with a grin, grabbing a random drink and throwing it to her friend. Gwen took another drink when she heard the quiet ring of her home's doorbell. Beacon reminded her someone was at the door, and Gwen quickly hopped into the house and ran to the door, Coca Cola still in hand. She opened the door and stood wide eyed.
"Uh, hello there."

The invitation had warned Piotr of a pool party, so he had dressed appropriately. Decked out in familiar red, yellow, and silver brief trunks. They were done up from an old costume that he had worn when first joining the X-Men, and they were the closest thing he had to swimtrunks.
Hesitantly, he draped his large red towel over one bare shoulder before pressing his forefinger against the doorbell. He did not have to wait long for someone to answer, and shock was evident on his face when the door swung open.
"Uh, hello there."
Words caught in his throat as a blush crept up the man's neck. He was always shy around members of the opposite sex, and it seemed that the lovely girl in front of him was no different.
"I am here for the party with a pool?" he asked, hoping he was at the right address. While she was wearing what appeared to be a swimsuit, there was always a chance that he had the wrong address. "This is right place, da?"

Taking another sip of her drink, she listened to the man speak. He was obviously Russian, taken from his accent, so Gwen immediately tuned her mind to hear him through it. She absorbed his frame-- large and muscular-- like a body-building model. Gwen blinked and stared back up at the man and nodded to his question.
"Yep, you're in the right place." Shockwave shared with a smile. Once again, her arm twitched to hold out her hand for a shake. Gwen mentally smacked herself on the forehead and continued speaking, "Hey, I'm Shockwave. Nice to meet you... uh..." The young woman with scarlet waves raised a brow, awaiting the man to finish her sentence.

"We'll find a way to work through it." Tony said as he went to put an arm around Pepper's waist hoping she wouldn't faint or anything that was the last thing he wanted to have happen. And then having to explain it to everyone else at the party what had happen to her. Tony went to turn Pepper and himself as he picked some random thing up and threw it at the spying cheetah he had this feeling Barabara was spying on them using that cat some how. The object hit the cheetah making it lose it's balence and fall out of the tree she landed on her feet and made her way back over to where Barabara. Tony smiled at Pepper and hoping she didn't see what he had done.

He sounded so sure that Pepper almost believed him. He slipped an arm around her waist and his grip was firm, strong, and steady. She knew Tony was not one to back off from promises or decisions. He would hold a course until he ran aground. But this was an entirely different situation. This was changing two lives, not just one. This was affecting way more than just the two of them.
So even as she turned with him she had doubts.
She shook her head as he hit the cheetah. "Making cheetahs mad is a bad idea, Mr. Stark," she chastised softly, but with a smile on her face. "Especially when that cheetah now knows about us."

"Should have known better then try and pull a fast one on Pepper Potts huh?" He said with a chuckle as he looked at her "Barabara needs to keep her noise and her cheetah's noses out of other peoples business." Tony said with frown that woman was bossy, pushy and evil and now he knew she was noisy knowing her she would be outside telling everyone what was going on in here. He had a feeling she wasn't the type to make things up but then again he could be wrong. "Penny for your thoughts?" He said when he noticed Pepper looked like she had a lot on her mind.

"You hired me because of my attention to detail," Pepper returned smiling, "and everyone's going to know about us because everyone saw us walk into this room. So either way you put it, we're caught."
She drifted off in her mind again, half completely shocked by the events, half now frozen in time and space as she realized she didn't know where to go from now. For the first time, she actually let herself slump a little, leaning in to Tony instead of away from him. Her head drooped onto his shoulder and she continued looking at the ground.
He asked for her thoughts and she replied, not moving: "For the first time, Mr. Stark..." she paused and smiled, "...Tony...you have me at a loss as to what to say."

"The only people here that know what's going with us in here is Barabara and your cousin everyone else most likely shrugged it off as work related." Tony said as he looked out the window at the others as they played in the water and laughed about this or that "I hope you can find the words to answer my question." He said looking at the blonde out the corner of his eye "Would you like to go out with me some time?" He asked looking down at Pepper who had her head on his shoulder looking at the floor like it was some great thing to look at.

Pepper closed her eyes, the smile on her face not one she was able to hide. It spread all the way up to her eyes and she was sure he would feel the movement of her facial muscles on his skin. She let go of him and faced him. pushing her strawberry hair behind her ears and looking at him carefully.
So he'd said it. Two steps now, not just one. He was in love with her and she was in love with him and they could keep it quiet. But now he'd asked her on a date. Two steps forward. Another level breached. They just weren't assistant and boss anymore, they were budding couple. What would people think?
That you're the woman Tony Stark fell in love with.
That you're the 'next' woman for Tony Stark.
Two options and she wasn't sure which of them she was more comfortable with.
You don't have to think about everything.
He was so handsome, standing there, a hopeful look in his brown eyes, the question still on his lips. She could say nothing but what he knew she would say. She smiled. "Yes. I think I would."

Tony smiled "Theres this place I've always wanted to take you to." He said before he leaned in and softly kissed her lips as he wrapped his arms around her waist to pull her in closer. He was actually content on being committed to a single woman without sleeping with her. That was when he knew that he had it bad for Virginia “Pepper” Potts – because he was taking his time with her and doing things right. But there was no way that he was going to tell her that. Tony pulled back a bit "I think I'm enjoying this more then the pool party." He said

Conner came running up to the door "Sorry I'm late." he said as he pushed his way passed Piotr who was turning into a lawn ornament and made his way into the house and down a hall looking for the bathroom. Stopping at one door he opened it hoping to find the bathroom he didn't find it but he did find however was Tony and Pepper kissing his eyes widen "Sorry!"He said and closed the door. Conner made his way back out to where Gwen was "Where's the bathroom? The last place I looked had Tony and Pepper making out." He said not wanting to walk in on anyone else who might be doing the same.

As the man suddenly pushed Gwen when he passed by, Gwen blinked with wide, surprised eyes as she exchanged a glance with Piotr. It seemed as if not many had manners anymore. The kid asked where the bathroom was, and Gwen autonomously responded with 'down the hall, fifth door on your right' as she turned her gaze to him. She froze when she heard his last statement. Tony and Pepper were making out? Shockwave immedately raised a suspicious brow. That man better not be raping the poor woman.
"Where did you see them?" Gwen asked the man curiously, attempting to seem as kind as possible, despite the fact that she was planning on wringing Stark's throat for making the moves on her cousin.

At first Pepper actually tilted her head out of curiosity when Tony mentioned a place he wanted to take her to. Where Tony would have taken a woman on an actual date was far beyond her! But when he suddenly leaned in to kiss her her mind stopped working. She closed her eyes and awkwardly lifted her hands to rest them on his shoulders. He pulled her in and she didn't fight; she melted against him and moved her hands from his shoulders to around his neck.
Her body was in overload. Half of her was silently cheering and the other half howling for her to push him away. But he hadn't even tried to charm her, hadn't used any of the one-liners he usually did when he was teasing. He hadn't tried in any way, shape, or form to entrap her into kissing him. He'd simply told her he loved her and then taken the next step.
Pepper wasn't going to fight that. Not at all.
He pulled away and quipped about the pool party. Pepper smiled. "I'm sure you are, Mr. Stark, but if we're away for too long everyone will start getting suspicious." She was pretty sure he'd remember that night - that night tell me you never think about that night - when they'd danced and went up on the roof. She'd chewed him out pretty harshly because of her own social awkwardness, because she'd been battling her emotions. But now everything was out in the open.
Except it wasn't.
So what were they going to do?
Pepper's eyes strayed to Tony's mouth. She wanted to kiss it again. D**n if she wasn't already addicted to him.

"Uh...first door on the left." Conner said pointing to the door he seemed pretty confused at what was going on. Gwen looked like she was going to choke Tony "Look...maybe its not as bad as you think you know uh..." he said trying to think of a reason why the two of them would be together like that "Ok I can't think of a reason why they would be in each others arms like that unless he confessed his undying love to her or some I don't know. But you know let him talk before you take his head off." He said trying to save Tony from an early death.
