Chase sat him self down in a darkened corner of the cauldron. The dim light that surrounded the room but failed to land on his face of course hid his face. A face that was hidden by the cloth mask. On the first day he let it be known that he was hire able and deadly. On his first day a few gangsters approached him but he quickly turned them down killing one who did not take the hint with a quick snap of his neck.
After that the low priced gangsters stayed away. And for his second day seated in darkness barely touching his drink waiting knowing that word would get around and that some one would hire him and he would accept one of them on his own terms.

He'd gotten away again. Dean Matthews. Cass had chased him all the way down to the Cauldron, knowing the full time she wasn't the law and once she got a hold of him he could easily resist her trying to drag him back. She had her help though, her powers, and she had that stupid stubborn streak that kept her on his heels all the way down. But he had vanished into the mist and now she was stuck in the Cauldron alone. And...as usual...a woman alone in the Cauldron signaled trouble.
The first gangster to pull a knife on her was blunt about it, stepping right up and holding the blade to her neck. Before she could turn away gangsters two and three flanked her and poked her in the sides with their blades. A gun cocked somewhere near her ear and she sighed heavily. I asked for this one.
"See this pretty suit?" one of the gangsters said, slobberingly. He let his hands drift someplace they shouldn't and Cass, to her horror, couldn't move for fear of getting stabbed. She gulped.
"I might get a mouthful," the gangster said, his hands sliding around.

Chase had every intention of minding his own business as he always did but the sudden appearance of this female and the sudden approach of the other three gangsters had him pissed. Not that his face in any way betrayed that beneath his mask.
"Boy's you have had your fun now I suggest you leave the lady in peace," he said as his right hand dipped to the pouch at his hip and drew forth the small throwing stair. A faint bit of light catching the razor sharp edge. "Let her have her leave in peace."

The gangsters didn't quite agree. The primary one holding Cass began to press his fingers to her neck and spots swam in front of her eyes. Pressure point. Damn it. She tried to move but it was like trying to swim through honey. The appearance of this new masked man didn't do much to help her chances - he was trying to let her go and she could see the small shuriken shimmering in his hand, but that didn't necessarily mean he was going to just save her. However she diverted her attention from him and focused instead on the man holding her. She could feel he was determined to get his hands and his mouth full, and her stomach lazily turned over. She found herself wishing Rachel was nearby...Rachel had a very effective tazer.
And Cass wasn't too sure about just breaking this man's grip. Unfortunately, he gave her no choice. Focusing as hard as she could, she lifted her foot and cut down with her heel, stabbing him mercilessly in the foot. He cried out and his hands impulsively squeezed on her chest. She yelped in pain and threw herself forward and out of his grasp. Shing shing two shurikens dropped into her hands and she relaxed into a defensive standpoint.
[feel free to god mod the other gangsters]

"Great I cant even wait for employment here without having a fight break out" he mutter his own for finger and thumb gripping the shuriken in on hand and thrown it at the man farthermost from him. The move was so quick and fluid that it was impossible to even notice that the blade was now stuck in one gangsters throat. And mostly because he used his other arm to knock the table he was at up in to the air to protect him self from incoming fire. It was a common enough tactic one he had been using since before even the First World War. And it always worked causing chaos and confusion. A ninjas best tool.
As the table flew up in to the air he waisted no time and drew forth his katana. The slightly curved blade soon slicing its way across the neck of the man with the gun. His eyes bulging as his life oozed on out of him before he could even react. “I told you to leave the pretty young women alone” he whispered in to the ear of the dying man before letting him fall to the floor in a pool of blood.

Cass barely had time to register what was happening around her before one gangstar dropped to the ground like he'd been hit with bricks. She saw the table fly up into the air and watched as it came down, somewhat mesmerized. A katana sang forth and drew a red ribbon on the neck of the other gangster, and Cass watched the blood flow like a cat watches rain. If she'd had whiskers they would have twitched, and as it was her eyes were filled with that same rabid interest as something new unfolded in front of her.
The most interesting thing to anyone watching the fight would likely be what happened next. With Cass's attention utterly on the bleeding man, the gangster who had been holding her took advantage. He stepped forward with his knife out, prepared to cut her suit open or perhaps catch her in the back of the neck. Cass's body twitched and her hand flew backwards before he could touch her. Her eyes never left the dying man, but her hand buried her shuriken in his shoulder. He stopped cold and looked down.
Now Cass turned. She pulled the star from his shoulder and he lunged for her. She caught his hand as it came at him and sliced him from wrist to elbow, severing the nerves. His hand dropped uselessly to the side and she stared at him with that sickening curiosity. He tried to lunge at her again but he was slower and she caught his other hand and repeated the process, only this time much slower. The man screamed in pain and Cass dropped him and watched.

"Who was your Sensei?" Chase finally asked as he watched her dispatch the last man. "Your tactics while affective are slow and give a skilled opponent more then enough time to finish you off." he said as he knelled down and started to wipe his blade off on the dead man's shirt before sliding it back in to the sheath with a loud click.
"But other wise young one you handled your self all right” he said after taking himself over to the other and tearing out his throwing blade and grumbling "that's the second time I have dulled a blade after drinking here. Should defiantly look else where."

Cass snapped out of her reverie to listen to the man who had helped her talk, and she continued to watch him with a mixture of curiosity and slight aggravation. Young one...ha! He looked hardly older than her. And slow tactics? She had hardly shown him her best. Not to mention she hadn't really been in the mood to kill anyone today, but the twitching man at her feet had been attacking her. Self-defense. In Gotham and after insanity, it was the most used defense. And it was a truer defense to be used. Cass had murdered before - not too often, she tried not to leave a trail of bodies in her wake or anything, but sometimes self-defense got to be necessary. Particularly when an experiment went wrong.
She couldn't necessarily tell this man about how she learned all of her self-defense and martial arts. She had studied under various masters for various disciplines and some of them she had learned herself. She had a feeling he wouldn't believe her if she told him that.
"I am a Gotham City District Attorney," she said. "I don't usually waste my time manhandling my clients. But sometimes it is necessary. Thank you for helping out. I'm not sure I could have taken three at once." Outright lie - she could have. But why make the man with the katana angry? Particularly when he became grumpy merely because he 'dulled a blade'?

"Then I am most certain that we will one day meet again," he said before lifting the blunted shuriken up and muttering a soft string of oaths as he inspected the steel. His strange gold coloured eyes looking over the blade to notice a slight flaw that had started to form in the steel.
"Here have something to remember me by," he said as he tossed it over to her and let the star shaped blade land at her feet. "It is useless to me now." he said before moving to pick over the bodies of the dead. His fingers flicking threw their wallets looking for their identification and more importantly to him who they worked for.

As the star landed at her feet, Cass knelt to grab it like a cat snatching a mouse. Only too later her instincts told her she shouldn't have done it; now her fingerprints were all over it. Like it or not she owned this shuriken now and she would have to thoroughly clean it and get it fixed up so it couldn't be used in a frame against her. She thought about the metalworkers in Gotham and instead wondered if she might take a trip to New York City and pay Tony Stark a visit. They called him 'Iron Man' for a reason, perhaps she could get him to fix the star better than anyone in Gotham.
She turned to inspect him, a strong specimen of a man with fascinating golden eyes. They almost caused as much chill in her spine as the icy blue of Jonathan Crane's eyes. She wondered if the mind behind them was just as twisted.
He began to go through the pockets of the men who had attacked her, looking for clues, no doubt, as to why they had attacked her, or perhaps who they worked for. Her mind switched over into attorney mode, and she moved to his side, looking down, waiting to see what he would find.
He'd asked her to remember him. She would have no problem with that.

"Nothing" chase said as he looked over the wallets. There was a bit of change in the pockets some Photo identification all fake. A few credits cards and recite from various places across town. But nothing stood out to him nothing he saw there could help him find who had attacked her.
"These guys may be idiots but who ever owns them is not." He said as he reached in and plucked out the few notes that were in the wallets and stuffed them in to his pocket. It was at that point that he glanced over to the attorney and smirked for a moment. "I have rent to pay and it would seem no one is going to hire me today."

"I won't tell you to put the money back," Cass said with a shrug. "They intended to rape and kill me. As far as I'm concerned you can tear them to pieces. Such are the rules of Gotham." No doubt he might find that attitude strange coming from a district attorney - and sometimes she found it strange as well. But it made sense. She could not live or do her job in Gotham without bending the rules sometimes. And these thugs clearly had just wanted money and fun. So far as she knew she didn't need to prosecute or chase them down for a crime that was committed daily.
Eyeing his katana, Cass added: "Where did you learn your tricks? You're a worthy opponent."

Back in Japan long before you were born" he said as eh closed his eyes and let out a long deep breath as he moved to the gun that lay on the floor. His eyes narrowing in on it with a hatred that seemed almost unnatural.
"I Hate guns" he said as he closed his eye. "Never approved when they first came to Japan and nothing has improved my opinion of them yet," he said as he lifted up the nine-millimetre handgun and started to look over it for the serial number. "No number." he said as he flicked the safety on and tossed it across to her. "Perhaps your people can do something with it."

Cass quickly stepped back as he tossed the gun at her, and she reached into her pocket and pulled out a cloth. No way was she getting her fingerprints on that gun. She pocketed it carefully, wrapping it in the cloth, hoping the cloth wouldn't rub off all of the prints before long. Her attention was mostly focused on him, however, and what he had said. Long before she was born? She wasn't that much older than him! He seemed to be taking this childish thing a little far. "I'm not a child," she said. "I don't deserve to be spoken to like one." Her voice took on a hard edge to it and she regarded him carefully. "So what were you doing down here looking for a job?"

"The exact words a child would use" he said as he flashed her a grin behind his cloth mask. "How you made it past the bar surprises me I would have thought that you would use the fact that I see you as nothing more then a child to your advantage. Press that angle and hope I give away some key detail as to who I am?"
Even after that he let out a small chuckle. “I suppose it does no harm to tell you why I was here.” He said before lifting his hand up to his hair and lightly scratched it for a moment. “I was hoping some one would employ me for the very skills you saw. Skills I have been employing for just over two hundred years.”
