Bishop drove down the streets of District X, a term coined by humans and mutants alike. Populated by primarily mutants, most cops avoided this District, but since Bishop was both a mutant, and a cop, he had been...'volunteered' to patrol the district on a permanent basis. He didn't really mind, because it allowed him to keep an eye on some of the more shady elements in the mutant community, but still, it wasn't the best assignment available.
Sure enough, several mutants were sneering and taunting the 'normals', humans living in District X, and Bishop knew that if things kept going, the taunting would escalate to violence, then possibly death. Stepping out of his car, Bishop walked over to the group.
"Alright, break it up. Let these people get home." One of the mutants leaped forward, as if to challenge Bishop, but he quickly dispatched him by side-stepping the attack, and with a jerk, drove his elbow into the back of the mutants head. "Don't make this any harder than it has to be."

"I was about to say the same thing", a small but confident voice said suddenly from behind Bishop. The young superhero Stargirl hovered behind the man and was staring down at the already upset crowd. She scanned the mutants and normal humans and shot her eyes between all of them. Some were drunk, some were violent and all were very angry.
She peered behind the group that had gathered and from a distance saw a mighty brawl already beginning to break out despite Bishops involvement. She sighed and rolled her eyes. Breaking up fights in New York wasn't quite the adventure she had hoped for today. She flew overhead and pointed her staff down.
"Can't we all just get along?", she questioned the fighting men before sticking her cosmic rod down and using the solar energy separated what men she could.

"That would require effort, and fighting is just so much easier, apparently." Bishop said, answering the rhetorical question posed by Stargirl. Powering up his fists, Bishop sent a blast of energy at a mutant who was trying to attack Stargirl from behind. Hss' and moans could be heard through the crowd.
Various yelps of recognition and cries to run or attack lit the night, and Bishop backed up, pushing the two humans behind him. Most of the mutants were low-level mutants, with powers that wouldn't be much good against a mutant like himself, or a powerhouse like Stargirl. However, he caught sight of one that seemed to radiate power, and was also the leader of the ever-growing mob.
"Stargirl, hit me with a blast. I can absorb it." Bishop needed to power up his reserves, and fast. He hadn't had time to do so before the fight, and if he let himself go too long, he'd be useless in the fight.

"That must be it" Stargirl said in response to Bishops comment. Quickly she whirled around when she saw the man send a powerful blast to someone behind her, someone trying to attack her. She glared down at her would-be attacker and stuck her tongue out at him.
Stargirl rose higher into the air to observe the mob better, and she didn't much like what she saw. "Oh get over it..", she said quickly as she heard their whining begin to grow more powerful. She let out a few low level blasts, managing to knock down quite a few of the growing group.
"You sure about that?", Courtney questioned as she heard Bishops request. She sighed and raised her staff in hand, and blasted away at her only ally at this point. She hesitantly peered back at the man to see if he was okay, and was instantly relieved to see that he was.
"Don't think they much like us...", she whispered as she flew back downwards and landed next to Bishop.

Bishop absorbed the energy, sighing as his body started to glow a light purple aura. Shaking his head, he looked at Stargirl, his eyes glowing a much brighter purple as his body coursed with the energy he'd just absorbed. "Damn, girl. I haven't been this juiced in a long time. Heads up!"
Pulling out one of his guns, Bishop fired a plasma shot at a group of mutants trying to surround them. There were too many, all at once. They had to take some of them down, and fast. "They don't like you because you aren't a mutant. They don't like me cause I'm a sell-out, according to them. So, don't hold back."
Just as he said it, several mutants rushed forward with a roar, and Bishop knew this was it. They had to fight them, there was no way to get them to disperse safely. Holstering his gun, he stepped forward. Clapping his hands together, energy blasted out in a wide arc, knocking several of the attackers back. The attack was an area attack, which allowed him to attack multiple targets, but at the expense of power. Kicking out, he sent another attacker back with a boot to the face. "They're trying to flank us. Watch our back."

Courtney smiled over at Bishop and then patter the golden pole that she held in her hand. She could tell he wasn't lying, he looked pretty revved up and his eyes began to grow quite brightly with his newly found energy. "Packs a pretty punch, don't it?"
Courtney quickly planted some highly powerful punches to faces of surrounding harassers. "Then again, so do I", she added under her breath as she watched her enemies fall backwards. Just after her snarky little comment left her lips she received a fist to the face herself, and jolted backwards in shock and pain. She felt a tiny trickle of blood rush from the side of her lips and bolted forward with new anger. Hitting a teen girls face wasn't the smartest move in the book. As the began to flank the pair, Courtney lifted her staff high into the air and sent out a massive energy blast that both engulfed the attackers and sent them slamming into the ground with simple motions of her arms.

Bishop paused, looking at the girl. Her power was incredible, though he wondered if the power was in the staff, or in her. Filing that bit of information away for later, he turned in time to get punched in the face, chest and midriff. Flying back, he crashed to the ground. So, one of them had super-strength. Bad luck, for the bad guy. Standing, Bishop grabbed the mutant that had punched him, lifting him up off the ground.
"Guess what, punk. I got super-strength, too. Here's a question. Can you fly?" With that, Bishop tossed the scaly lizard-like mutant, sending him crashing into, and through a wall. Spinning, he aimed his fists at an oncoming group, and several intense blasts of energy flew from his fists as fast as bullets. Finally, the leader decided to get involved.
"He's all yours." Bishop backed up, allowing Stargirl to take point, and take on the behemoth mutant. His size was daunting, but Bishop had seen bigger, and taken them down just as easily. However, he wanted to see just how powerful the girl was. Absorbing an energy blast from the leader, he kept the rest of the mutants at bay.

Courtney spent her time zapping and tossing attackers left and right, and still they seemed to swarm like ants. She watched as Bishop disabled a group of gather mutants, after sending one powerful one crashing through a wall. Good show. It was then that he spoke to her. She looked with worried eyes at the leader of the mob. He was huge and seemed to spew anger and venom.
"Yowza. You would be so generous!", Courtney exclaimed as she flew over and hovered in front of the man. She tightened her jaw as the man released a bevy of both curses about her and her mother...and what felt like a thousand flying fists and blasts of deadly energy. Finally, the blond grew tired of dodging and placed herself right in front of him, holding out her palms and touching on her belt. "Eat sparkles, jerk", she announced in a tiny voice as rows of tiny stark like bolts shot out from her bright red belt and from her red gloved palms. They were a series of "shooting stars", and would serve to really fry his nervous system for at least a few minutes.
She grinned as he began to jerk and spasm in pain, and lifted her staff to pick him up. She surrounded the golden white energy around him and began to fly into the air, meaning to bring him crashing back down. As she flew however, the mutant himself recovered slightly and broke through her energy binds, grabbing her ankle and sending her into the pavement below. Courtney's body crashed into the ground, cracking the paved roads. She peered around and saw that her shiny golden staff was yards away from her. "My staff...", she wheezed as she tried to lift herself from the mini-crater.

Bishop frowned, the arrival of their boss had caused the rest of the mob to back up. Rolling forward, he grabbed Stargirl's staff, tossing into her hands. Jumping back to avoid a foot, Bishop pulled out his guns, both of them, charging them to full. Aiming them at the man, he squeezed the triggers, and the man flew back, supporting himself with the wall behind him to keep from falling.
"You good to go?" Bishop said, taking the momentary lull to help Stargirl out of her crater. He should've been watching the mutant, because before he could even taken another breath, Bishop was tossed forward, and slammed into a wall. Sliding down, Bishop's eyes closed, and he fell into unconsiousness. Stargirl really was all alone, now.

Courtney groaned in pain as she lay in the cracked and broken street where she had crashed down. She made a puny attempt to reach for her staff, her thin arm just not cutting it as she looked on at the approaching mutant mob.
She was just about to lay her pounding head back down when she felt her staff land in her hand. She quickly wrapped her fingers around the pole and pulled herself up. She looked up at Bishop thankfully as she crawled from the wreckage below. The young hero stood in a weak and wobbly fashion before flying rather slowly into the sky. She looked back down to see her only ally being slammed against a wall, and quickly becoming unconscious.
"Crap", Courtney said flatly as she flew back down to retrieve the man. She just might have to high tail it out of here. "Oh come on..wake up!", she pleaded with him as she crouched near his side and began to check his vitals.

Jake was flying high above the city in his owl morph. He was taking a different route than he normally did, because he was curious about what other parts of the city looked like. He looked down a dark street where there seemed to be a mob teaming up against two people. He saw one person go down with a single punch from a really big guy.
Jake landed behind the mob where no one could see him. He demorphed back to human and decided it was his turn to step in and help the two mutants in trouble. He chose one of his most dangerous and favorite morphs, a lion. His bones and intestines ground, disappeared, and reshaped to form the strong bones of a male lion. Fur grew everywhere and his mane grew. Then he was full lion, and the mind of the lion kicked in. Jake conquered it without a problem.
Jake gave a loud, "Rrroooaaarrrr!" That roar seemed to shake the ground and walls. Jake leaped into action and took down a few of the other mutants that were still around with just a few swipes of his paws. He leaped to the girls side, she seemed weak and injured. But then again, he would be too if he had just made a giant crater in the pavement.
The lions bared it claws and teeth. The mob leader seemed a little shaken, but not as much as he was a little earlier. Jake let out another ground shaking roar and began charging the mob leader. Jake overpowered the mob leader and knocked him down. Jake retracted his claws began beating up leader. He wasn't going to kill the leader just slow him down a lot.
After about a minute or two Jake backed off the mob leader. He wasn't moving very much which was what Jake had intended, however the rest of the mob had decided to advance on him, the unconscious man, and the injured girl. Jake had lost the element of surprise as many of the mob members had recovered from the shock of seeing a lion in the middle of New York City.
Jake backed up to where the injured girl and unconscious man were and prepared for another attack.

Doctor Mid-Nite dropped down, seemingly from nowhere, by Stargirl's side. He gave the man a once over, checked his vitals himself. He then looked back at the mob. He didn't wake up this morning and want to be involved in a mutant free for all. But such was the life of a hero. He sighed momentarily. Then he spoke, disappointed resignation in his voice.
"Hey, nice to see you're still alive. Use your staff, carry him out of here, he seems okay, but he might have fractured a few ribs, he's tough, he should come out of it in a few, but we can't let the mob get to him. The lion guy over there and I will cover you, wait for the smoke to spread a little." Stargirl should know what he meant by now. He pulled a small pellet from his gauntlets and dropped it on the ground, it released a thick, pitch-black gas, blinding everyone it enveloped; blackout bomb, he called it. "In the land of the blind..." He said, letting the sentence trail off.
He leapt into the crowd, grabbing onto someone's head as he went, pulling it down knocking it on the ground. Out cold. He rose, there was confusion in the mob. Mid-Nite hoped the lion guy was smart enough to rely on his other senses in the gas. Mid-Nite slammed a right hook into a shaggy-headed mutant's cheek, he was down for the count. Mid-Nite kicked another mutand full in the chest, bringing him down, but felt someone in the mass of people grab his leg and throw him off balance. He recovered quickly, but the time it took allowed for someone else to get a good punch in the square middle of Mid-Nite's back. He spun and knocked that combatant out as well. He hoped Stargirl would hurry up and get back to the fight.
"Damn it, I'm a doctor, not a powerhouse." He said to no one in particular.

Bishop's eyes fluttered open, and he groaned. His chest felt like a ton of rocks was sitting on it, and he found it was much harder to breathe. Still, he couldn't let some crazy giant mutant get the best of him. Climbing to his feet, he growled, walking forward. Ignoring the pain that lanced through his body with each step he took, he planted himself between Dr. Mid-Nite and the rest of the mob.
"If you really think one kick is enough to take me down, then you got another thing coming. Back off. Now." Bishop lifted up his arm, again having to ignore the pain that ripped through his chest with each move he made, and aimed a lethal blast of energy behind the mutants head, taking care not to hit the lion-man.
"The next one is going through your head, you son of a b@#ch. Get your people and get the hell out of my city." Bishop growled, as the entire wall behind the mutant collapsed. Luckily for Bishop, it was an abandonded factory, and there were no occupants, but he dreaded the paperwork he'd have to file when he got back to the Precinct.

Suddenly another mutant showed up to help in the fight. He was a great assistance knocking people down left and right. Jake was doing the same knocking people in the mob down scratching them and hitting them with his paws as fast as he could go.
Then a mutant got the jump on him. The mutant landed a few well placed punches to Jakes ribs and a kick. Jake spun around and put a huge lion sized paw right across the mans face sending him flying towards the fence. Another mutant picked the huge lion up and threw him back towards the others he was trying to help out.
He got back up on all fours and looked at the people he was helping out. The mutant that Jake had seen unconscious a little earlier was awake and probably sore he didn't look a to worse for the ware. As Jake stood there the guy who Jake noticed was a police officer fired a shot that made a huge hole in the building behind the mob leader.
Then without warning everything went pitch black. His eyes might have been useless until the smoke cleared up but his hearing and smell were still very useful and very effective to tell where everyone was and how fast they were moving towards the little group.
Everything seemed to fall into chaos. The mob fell apart, they didn't know where they were and they could tell if their leaders were still around them to give them the courage to continue attacking. Everyone seemed to be frozen and Jake didn't know whether to attack them or to stay where he was on the defensive.

Stargirl was hunched over the passed out Bishop, and clutched to her staff protectively as she prepared for the oncoming swarm. She heard a voice behind her and looked up quickly. Dr. Midnite. He spoke to her in a less than thrilled tone, and perhaps sarcastically commended her for still being alive. Courtney brushed it off and looked over at him.
"Glad you're here. Got it", she said as she prepared to get the injured man away from the fray. Just as she readied her staff the man blinked awake. She flashed him a bright smile and flew up to face the mob. She watched as Bishop blasted a gun and decimated a wall that stood behind the crowd. She swerved and carefully avoided debris.
She took a deep breath and lifted her staff swiftly, sending a huge and powerful ray of energy below. She enveloped several members of the attacking group, and with a swift movement of her staff to one side she rammed them into a wall, knocking several of them out and letting them drop carefully to the floor.
